If you know your car is defectable.. do not drive it, trailer it and avoid yourself the defect thats pretty simple. I know les is trying to put on better shows to try and boost adelaide back up and is slowly getting the support he needs. So why not have some of the SAU people that are looking at doing more of the driving side of things to head down there and the ones that want to polish their cars to go to the EHS?

Get the SAUSA name out there instead of showing posts like these of 'the dates are the same, not good'

^^^ that is a super ignorant comment Minibats. You drive a SKYLINE, hence it is defectable. They can (and often do) defect you for a STANDARD BOV. They can get you for anything they want, doesn't matter if you are stock standard. So you think I should go out and buy a tow vehicle and a car trailer, then tow my Skyline the 436km to Mt Gambier .... suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure. NOT

I will watch my words because you are a mod.. lol.

Dont think its super ignorant at all, was just saying towards anyone that was looking to go to the event to trailer it there to avoid any issues. And im sorry but it was more said to try and spread out SAUSA to get the name of the club a longer distance than just in local SA.

Yes I know my skyline isnt exactly 100% standard and I take that risk on the road every day lmao, ask James how much I pay my own car out.

haha you don't have to watch your words cos I am a mod - I can take as good as I give

But seriously, you can't knock people for complaining about being defected when on the way enter their cars in shows or Mallala .... police policy in this respect is plain stupid. And people like Les should be taking it up with the Poclie/their MP that people are avoiding these shows en-masse because of the unwarranted attention/defects we get.

That was till the Organiser told me we wen't the type on cars (imports )they wanted in the car it was more for street machines so after that we did not go and they lost 25 cars after that.

hmmm

well thats not a very good way of trying to get cars there if we are not really "welcomed" to the event.

enter gazzanationals people!!!!!!!! everyone is welome!!!!!!!!! (trust me EVERYONE is welcomed to enter!)

Dont know really what happened in the past but ALL are welcome at event ran by us including: Street Machines, Street Rods, Imports, Restored/Authentic, Kustoms and so on.

Autofest events are designed for those attending to have fun with their ride no matter what it is.

We can appreciate what you are trying to achieve here Les, but unfortunately I don't think there will be a mass turnout this year from us....

As you can gather we have previously attended in large groups the Mount gambier show but have experienced a number of issues..

Firstly as shane said a previous organiser (or similar) made us unwelcome as our cars were not deemed to be street machines (ie not old fords and holdens),

Also we have experienced poor treatment bordering on harrassment by the police because of our choice of vehicles. We are not hoons we are enthusiasts who would spend much money on the local economy... or NOT if we are targeted. Simple. We are currently working with police here in Adelaide to improve things and allow us to be enthusiasts instead of hoons as we are often labelled.

Thirdly, we are going to be attending EHP because they have released their dates first, are the only indoor show in Adelaide for us, and are showing us the support of specific categories for our vehicles and a special show'n'shine on the sunday for our members who don't enter the full show.

Perhaps you could look at addressing these for next year?... and yes we have plenty of members who would be interested in the driving style events.

That was till the Organiser told me we wen't the type on cars (imports )they wanted in the car it was more for street machines so after that we did not go and they lost 25 cars after that.

That was a long time ago and looks like the organisers have changed hands...Back then the imports where still new and people dont like change..I dont see that as a reason to give up tho cant please everyone...

Despite that issue I know I had a great weekend and was with great people!

An event to think about in the future for SAUSA prehaps..

Yeah i hear what your saying and also think at times many are targeted for the wrong reasons not only imports but street machines in general, I personally have built and driven to many events around OZ since the mid 70's and have had my share of defects and harrassment as well and one thing that really surprised me recently was this; I just finished a 1931 Ford fitted with a 454 big block chev with all the goodies etc and on its maiden voyage drove it to Summernats ( over 750k round trip) and not hasselled once but seen many a street machine getting pinned, go figure that!

Anyway maybe we might see you guys and girls at Murray Bridge on Jan 23 and 24

    • If that's the wiring from the factory, I'd be inspecting the loom everywhere.   Any signs of that anywhere else, and seriously, I'd get rid of the car ASAP before the electrical gremlins make it worthless, or it goes up in flames on its own. That is scary how that insulation is failing!
    • I should note too as I have all 4 wheel speed inputs to the emtron I now have the emtron controlling the attessa solenoid for 4wd/traction and launch control strategies.
    • It works quite well with the adjustibility within each of the programs of the turbolamik. Essentially p1 is drive and lockup comes on like a normal driver.  But in program 7 I have customised it to not request the lockup clutch to engage until something like 6500/7 when slip was the lowest.
    • Yep, I like that. The tags are only on the first post of a thread and we don't get huge numbers of new threads. Also, I plan to add some more report types and we could have a member report type like 'review tags' then members could flag if they thought a topic wasn't tagged correctly.  No way man, I dig the input. Thanks!
    • It's a valid thought. There's not exactly that functionality already (when creating a thread) - that's where the OP can use/create any tag they want. We'd have to come up with a way for the user to request their tags get reviewed or something. Otherwise the mods would have to review every new post's tags (for those that have them, anyway). There's kind of that functionality already exists to some extent, post facto of starting the thread, where the OP or any other user could report the post to admins, and request that tags get reviewed. We could do this already, and any user could already have made such a request. To make it a part of the forum proper, it would require an initial and an ongoing education programme, so that people know that it's a thing. OP based tagging/request for review would also require at least some (probably most) of the user base to be told that it's a thing they can do. Both of these things probably wouldn't spread too far and/or get used very much. If it was the standard approach on a lot of different sites, then it might do, because people would be used to it. Prank's approach to this differs from my original thought, by leaning into tagging. Which is fine - it's possibly better than what I originally suggested. In fact, I just went to the R32 GTR wiring diagram thread and added tags, including "Library". That's probably a good way to use tags and the idea of a library. We just have to drag together an (organised!) index of threads or posts that have that tag. I have yet to do any of my own follow up by pursuing worthy threads and posts and reporting/marking/tagging them for the library, such as the @Sydneykid stuff I was talking about, and possibly any amount of @Lithium 's and others' posts. At least if I tag them Library, we'll have a start.   Back to @Wazmond's idea as it relates to @PranK's, we might have some sort of a list of tags that are already used to scrape for this library. I'm not entirely sure how that would be presented or used, particularly if it got long. But it's yet another idea!   cheers
