Make Your Skyline More Resistant To Thieves....

I once caught a thief in the act of breaking into my R33 and this is how they do it.....

1) They wedge something in between the drivers door glass and the door jam - as there is no pillar surrounding the door glass, it warps slightly and leaves a gap.

2) They stick a thin long rod down through the gap to the anti-carjack switch located on the switch panel on the driver's door to unlock the passenger door.

3) They open and enter the vehicle via the passenger door.

4) Your life comes to a complete stand-still when you return to where your Skyline once parked.

SOLUTION - Open up the door trim to access the back of the switch panel on the driver's door and disconnect that anti-carjack switch - that useless piece of crap..... See ? Nissan isnt perfect.

you can do that - or

you can make it so that when the car is turned off the switch is an instant trigger for your alarm and does not unlock the door

and while the the car is running it works as normal...(or locks both doors)

Even better, hook it up to an inverter and sending a 100000000 volts of electricity thru the bastard's body.... lol

or, even better, get an alarm system with a three point immobilizer with an on board turbo timer and no stupid remote start crap. they can only smash the window and steal all the stuff out of the car, unless you fit the siren in the cabin, making it really unpleasant to be in there...

does this apply to R34's as well ?? I have taken the door trims off more than once before but I don't recall seeing a "anti carjack switch". Is that the switch that locks/unlocks both doors when you push it? Will leaving it disconnected cause any problems with existing alarm etc ?

There should 4 switches on the drivers door handle, two for left/right windows up/down, one to isolate all functions and the last one is that switch that remotely locks and unlocks the passenger door - THAT is the switch we're referring to.

motion sensors in the car will also help this problem...

once they stick something down there alarm will go off.

Yeah, THANKS for broadcasting to the world how to break into my car!! Good piece of anti-theft info there.

This is out of good faith due to my own personal close-call, this happened to me 3 weeks after I picked up my R33 - before I had a chance to install an alarm etc.... Im sure there are other Skyline owners on here that wouldve appreciated this advice and went straight out to do something about it.

If you have the money to drive a Skyline, then there is no excuse not having an alarm and if you have an alarm then you shouldnt have a thing to worry about..... But then again, there's always that ungrateful clown that does nothing but bitch like a woman.

if they want to just "get in" they can just smash the window ..easier and quicker too. This is where alarms and immobilisers come in handy.

Smashing windows make noise and cause attention.

On this particular day, I parked the car at Parramatta's Westfield carpark on level 5, went down stairs for not even 5 minutes, came back up and found my car door semi-opened....which I found unusual as we all know, these cars lock themselves after 60 or so seconds.....I looked inside and they got as far as unscrewing my steering column cover and my key barrel dangling....another 2 minutes and it wouldve been gone. I looked around and saw 5 lebanese kids (probably from Auburn) watching me in a hatchback all with a 'damn ! spewin !' look on their faces. I got their number plate just as they drove off.

I reported this to the cops, they came and finger printed the car and tells me that I was extremely fortunate as there has been a string of these imports stolen from that very carpark in recent weeks. Oh yeah, that number plate was stolen as expected.

So yeah, I went straight out and spent $600 on an pager alarm system the very next day.

no need really - me being me I can have the car gone in 2-3 minutes anyway without hitting that switch.

You wouldn't be the only on either. If someone wants your car they'll get it..... All you can realistically do is make it difficult for them, maybe difficult enough for the bastard to go look elsewhere

I know enough of them to tell the difference between a Leb and a Turk, not that I have a problem with either of them consider some of my best friends are Lebs and goat lovers...They were young little punks but they knew what they were doing....minimal damage to the car....They wanted to take it.

    • There's probably an underlying issue with the A/C system too. I recently fixed mine, now it's fully control by the Haltech and car's factory HVAC controller  Have a squiz here:
    • And by the way, I've also checked the ECU diagnostic numerous times and got a bad O2 sensor code and initially an Ignition Primary code, which is why I replaced the O2 sensor and all the ignition components (coil packa, plug and loom). No codes have been coming up lately despite the ongoing issue.
    • Hey pber13, unfortunately still no luck. At this point the following has been done with little or no success: - Spark plugs replaced, gapped to 0.8mm - Splitfire coilpacks installed to replace originals - Replaced Ignition Coil/Coilpack harness with a new genuine nissan one - New fuel filter - Replaced AFM/MAF sensor - Injectors have been thoroughly cleaned with an online flush (without removing) - Upper engine and inlet decarbed - blew tons of black smoke out, cleared the carbon deposits from the top of the engine and exhaust.  - IACV removed and thoroughly cleaned with carburettor cleaner - O2 sensor replaced with new and genuine one -  Smoke test revealed no vacuum leaks - Healthy compression test of 160psi across all 6 cylinders Overall the car does run a lot smoother now, no backfires between gear shifts like it did originally... but the rough idle when warmed up is still there. It may not even be a misfire but simply a rough idle. Seems crazy to me that so many people have had this issue and seemingly no one has gotten to the bottom of it, or at least never bothered to post if they did! Hope you have more luck than I did pber13, I'm at a point now where I'm just going to try to ignore it unless it gets worse. Would love to fix it but I've genuinely run out of ideas of what it could be.
    • I got the full frenchys kit too. Really awesome kit. Easy to install my only complaint was the hardlines I think could be routed differently (I modified mine) but I realise the kit needs to suit multiple applications. This was the hard lines before I modified them. They were touching the wastegate pipe. I ended up reducing the distance between firewall and first bend. The made it so they tucked along the frame rail.
    • Deeve, I don't suppose that you've made any progress on this? My Stagea has the exact same problem, and just like you, I've read through as much as I can online, with no real progress. My car isn't throwing any codes at all, which is a little frustrating. I've changed plugs, checked the wiring and harness. A new MAF gets here next week, but I'm not hopeful it will solve the issue.
