Calling Japanese Translators...

I've attached a scanned bit from a Trust Installation guide for a front facing plenum. It is the only one i can't figure out what it is, as Nissan Aust can't find part for the code (16165-25U00).

Can anyone translate it for me? I can read a tiny bit of chinese, and it looks like it says it is crucial?

OK. I wasn't sure about the "H" part. I thought the 7.1 meant 97/1...

I guess H5.8 ~ H6.12 would be Aug 93 ~ Dec 94 then, right Rezz?

By the way, what is the significance of the "H"?

The "H" stands for the first letter of the "Period" that the Japanese are in. In this case the "Heisei" peroid. So eg: "H1" is the first year of the Heisei period. The Heisei period started in Jan 1989, so H1 = 1989, H2 = 1990, H3 = 1991 as so on.

Before the "Heisei" peroid, it was the "Showa" period, and this period started way back in Dec 1926 and continued until 1989. Thats why (when we refer to AE86 Trueno`s and the like) theres always a "S61" or "S62" "S63" along side the name of the car on auction documents from Japan.

Can I ask how you translated all that kanji without knowing the Japanese calendar? Just curious!

I studied Japanese for 4 years back in high school, which is why I understood most of it, but they never taught us anything about the Japanese calendar!

Yeah, by "period" I mean reigning emporer.

I`m suprised they didn`t teach you about it... it`s an every day factor of Jap life.

So is the Japanese year (eg H15) used more often in Japan than the western year (eg 2003)?

In my experience the japanese use their own system of dating at least 80% of the time.

Yeah, the "H15" is more used in official situations, TV news, and office documents etc, but magazines, regular TV shows and popculture related stuff of course use 2003 randomly.

thanks fellas for the translation... unfortunately Nissan Blackburn (in Vic) couldn't find the part (given the part number) on the Jap parts site... hmmm
