Pinging Rb25 Det

Hi there,

I have a '96 R33 GTS-t and found that when under load and boost it pings in any gear. The car is standard except for a cat back. I changed plugs and at same time air and fuel filters. I noticed that the fuel coming out of old filter was bloody dirty. I know fuel quality and dodgy fuel pump can be a cause of pinging as is timing etc. Do you think that dirty injectors would be the probable cause? The car runs very well otherwise with great fuel consumption.

Happened to a R32 I imported years back. Its mainly due to your fuel pump filter blocked. You probably also heard a loud buzzing noise from the pump too. Had to professionally clean the whole fuel system and the problem went away.

Or unless you are running too much boost.

could be

fuel pump dying, blocked injectors, the list is long - take it to a professional if you don't know to be honest

if the fuel coming out of the filter was dirty it's pretty safe to say the injectors are going to be dirty. get them professionally cleaned.
