hey guys, ive been thinking about this for a while and have decided to drive up to adelaide in about 3 to 4 weeks time, havent decided on actual date yet. I was wondering if you guys can suggest first of all a place to stay, hotel thats not too expensive that is, also what i should check out while in adelaide and night spots. Any other suggestions and or ideas are welcome. Boys trip, no girls :) pm me email me, write here. Anyway your comfortable, thank you! Ps if you guys end up having some sort of a cruise, ill join that too if i can. Cheers, adis.

me thinks that we should have a nice lil cruise.....if your after nightlife then Melb is way better lol....but we have a few places you can check out HQ seems to be a very popular place to pick up lol.....Definitely go for a nice drive through the hills and try some good food at Harndorf.....

Oh and feel free to come to Cafe de Villis on south road near richmond road to say hello to a few peeps and get some good villis pie into ya

Funny coincidence that a few of us off here (myself, Sled, Reb Back and Scandyflick are flying over to Melb Sat 1 Aug to pick up my new car and drive it back to Adelaide Sun 2 Aug. Road trip? lol

if youre looking for a hotel that is decent priced and smack bang in the middle of the city, try the pacific in hindmarsh square.

as for nightlife, i myself like the smaller underground clubs & bars - i reccomend Sugar on Rundle St. and even Dragonfly in Victoria Sq. on a Saturday night. Theres heaps of other joints that are popular - Electric Circus, Garage, Dog & Duck, Vodka Bar, or even HQ like Batmaan Bin Suparman said above (lol). And while you're down here, you might as well check out the worst Casino in Australia...

3-4 weeks time??? You'll be here in time for the SAU:SA dyno day ... come watch. :)

The Riviera on North Terrace city is a nice cheap place with guest car parking at the back. Very close to the city night life.

Mars bar is definately one to check out, Krishy told me so.

you didnt complain when you came along Damo.....

Vote 1 for Damo to be the SAUSA drag queen.....lol i see Pete's eye light up

Mars bar is good if you going with some leso friends as they can pick the leso chicks from the straight ones....and there is plenty of that in there from what i hear....

So if your into your RNB tunes there is a few places....Sugar, Mansions (even tho the DJ sucks), Swish, Club 58 (it plays all sorts), Earth (changing their style of beats...more trance, electro, house stuff), HQ (plays everything and anything and plenty of hotties there), Garage, Cargo, Rocket Bar, Vodka Bar, Tool i mean woolshed, Red Square (its gone plain wierd there now), Dog n Duck, Palace (classy boobies), Crazy Horse Revue (average boobies), Land of promise (exactly what the title says), Casino for cheap drinks just dont let Dave (scandy) take your money, The Elephant, RNB at the CRIB if you like hanging with Wanksta's (all brothers from africa yo), Pier one at the bay, Dublin at the bay (chicks behind the bar are stunning), Grand at the bay

So thats a fair few places

+1 for cruise, just dont get your car impounded while you're here lol

Have been on an awesome cruise before which cruised through Gorge, Chain of Ponds and then the back way to Angaston, then head back towards the city through the twisty roads of the Barossa - yes, I'm biased lol.

It was an awesome cruise though, Scenic as and some good food too. (Bakehouse Cafe Williamstown FTW)

Definitely check out the hills we got here, everything else has pretty much been covered (yeh adelaide sucks) but check out Handorf on your way out for breakfast/lunch before making the trip back :bunny:

    • Have you put an aftermarket oil pressure gauge on and verified your oil pressure?   Noise being on the block, on exhaust side, how high up the block does it seem to be? It could be the VCT system getting cranky, especially if it's mainly at idle, and when warm, as that'll be your lowest point for oil pressure. Could be showing that oil passages / VCT solenoid are blocking.
    • Well, hydraulic lifters will get noisy if they are dirty/fouled in some way, and exactly how that manifests will depend on exactly what schmutz is where. There is a procedure on here somewhere for dismantling and soaking/cleaning them. Replacing them with new is about 50% of the work and about 5% of the money!
    • Thanks for the reply @GTSBoy this is is a hydraulic lifter engine. Yea right i did not realise the lifters were supposed to be compressible while installed. I could push them down but i had to lean almost my while body weight on them.  I have never heard of a lifter/ lifters ticking only at hot idle and getting worse the hotter it gets. I have owned a few jdm cars with noisy lifters. This noise is slightly more subtle, it is more of a sharp gentle metalic tic than the solid and more loud tapping I've heard on lifters. I have used a metal rod, alloy tube, hose and stethoscope and could not find the source of the tick. But it appears to be loudest on the actual engine block behind the exhaust cam gear and next to the oil filter. I had mate (40 year old mechanic) go over it with me and he couldn't find it either..  Could it be a cam seal issue of some sort?  Cheers
    • This seems problematic and unlikely at the same time. Vanilla RB2Xs have hydraulic lifters. They do have "zero" clearance, but only when running with oil pressure inside them. When not running, you should be able to compress them and obtain heaps of clearance. RB26s and Neos have solid lifters. They should have ~0.3mm and ~0.5mm on the inlet and exhaust respectively. If they have zero clearance then bad things are happening. With nothing else being wrong, it would mean that the valves would be held slightly (ever so slightly) open when they are supposed to be closed and it should have all sorts of problems when running, caused by leakage in/out through the valves. Or, zero clearance can indicate severe valve seat recession. None of it is good. Have you used a piece of hose as a stethoscope to try to localise the noise?
