I have an R34 GT-T and will be getting some wheels in from Japan in a week or so. I have been told 18x8.5 +30 up the front and 18x9.5 +38 up the back fits pretty well but I am chasing the pretty much maximum wheel widths I can fit on the R34 with rolled guards that won't cause me any hassle. The size of the wheels will also determine the tyre size(s) I will run.

I either want to run...

235/40R18's all the way around (these on 9.5's should look nice)

225/40R18's at the front and 255/35R18's at the back (slightly lower profile and almost exactly the same rolling circumference as I currently run)

235/40R18's at the front and 265/35R18's at the back (will fit a nice wide set of wheels and will cost my less in tyres)

I also want a nice wide set of wheels as the wheels I am ordering have a bit of dish so the wider the wheel, the greater the dish. I also want to give my car a nice tough stance so a good offset is paramount.

So what sizes can I run on the R34? If I'm going to spend some decent money on these I want the perfect set of wheels.

have a look at this thread to see what other people are running.. there are many variables ie; how low your car is, how aggressive you want your fitment to be etc etc

in theory you could make just about anything 'fit' so it's really up to you to decide how much work you want to do and what look you want to achieve

Thanks, I'll check that out.

Currently the suspension is stock but I'll be getting coilovers soon and will be rolling the guards before fitment. These are the only mods I will do to it that will effect the wheels.

hmm i would probably buy wheels first, then start working your guards / dropping your car to suit.

in any case the thread above has details of what people have done to achieve particular fitments etc, you won't go far wrong.

good luck :/

rolled guards, you can squeeze 18x9.5 or 10 with high offsets of +38 like what you want.

how low are you planning to lower it?

ride height & camber plays a big part in what fits & what doesn't fit.

330mm front (centre of rim to guard)

320mm rear

18x9 +14 225/40/18

18x9.5 +13 235/40/18

both f+r guards are rolled.

camber im not sure as i didnt have any adj camber arms.

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
    • That's all good, I thought I was missing some interesting feature! Maybe @PranK can double check if that is something that is meant to be operating or not.
    • I hope that is not something that bad. From what i remember he said that only first gear is "hard" to get in and that he has couple of ideas what to try next but idk 😕  hope it is not gearbox out. I will let you know.
    • If it's not the hydraulics, it is probably gearbox back out. Usually as per @Duncan's post, or otherwise associated with not getting the throwout fork positioned correctly. All the way up to catastrophically bolting shit back together without it being aligned properly and wrecking the clutch/input shaft/flywheel/something else.
