cheers mate

how do u take out the back seat btw?

the parcel shelf is part of the body, I assume you mean taking off the cover with the speaker grills

to get at the cover and remove it you need to take out the back seat

first start with the bottom of the seat you have to remove the two bolts that are on the outside, it can get tricky after that as there are metal brackets that clip in on the inside of the seat, you kind of have to push the bottom seat while also pulling up, when you get it loose you will see what I mean.

the back of the seats have another two bolts that will be exposed when you get the bottom off, once the bolts are off then a case of pulling the back up and out

then unbolt the child restraints and the cover will slide out

nah i didnt mean the hole covers i ment the hole parcel shelf so that i could put in some 6x9s and some moulds

but thanks for the help on removing the seats mate looks like im gonna have to do it with the parcel shelf still in there

thanks for your help mate

no dramas,

hmm I'm interested to see how you go with 6x9's, I installed fusion splits in my old gtt but they were the same size as the factory units and from memory if you want to fit 6x9s you might have to widen the holes in the parcel shelf with a dremel and make custom brackets or drill holes, the factory units use a plastic bracket that screw to the shelf hopefully if you remove those the hole left behind will be big enough

when you get around to it you will see how the parcel shelf is part of the bodywork, I'm sure someone has done this before, just maybe need to search on the forum for examples

good luck though :)

cutting a rear deck for 6x9 is a defectable offense in SA, which would require lots of work to fix back to stock

plus 6x9 speakers dont sound as good as 6.5 inch in a decent brand anyway so why bother cutting the deck up?

my 2c

yea but if u go out and buy some speaker moulds u should need to cut nuffin because there would already be holes from the original speakers

i think the moulds look so much better than just the speakers sittin in the shelf anyways but thats my opinion

    • yeah I've never understood that either.... And to answer an earlier question, I write the date on open bottles and throw them if more than 12 months old (which they almost always are, because I don't need to bleed them unless I'm changing lines/calipers etc in between)
    • Nah, the one that hit the boot was a big steel locker, around 6 foot height, 4 foot wide and 2 foot deep, empty it weighs about 15kg and had about that amount of stuff in it The photo didn't give a good representation of the actual damage, the large ding on the passenger side was about a inch deep, the one on the driver was about 1/2 inch deep, right on the curve, where the inner boot frame doesn't let you get behind it with a dolly Basically the same issue with getting behind the damage on the centre of the boot We could have filled it all with bog, but my OCD would be triggered every time I looked at it, knowing what hides beneath  As for the locker, I did get the shits with it and put it in the scap metal bin, but, I pulled it out and it is now sitting in the garage at home full of car servicing stuff, cleaning gear and random tools, it's going to pay for it's indiscretions
    • Whilst I typically don't cheap out on things, if I can save some money, like $1000, on a clean straight panel, that gives me $1000 to spend on other stuff, basically free money really 🤔 🤣
    • Is the toolbox that damaged the boot seal the same item that fell on the car during the storm a while back?
