could anyone help me out

looking for some info

whats the cost of rebuilding a turbo ?

does rebuilding a turbo mean its high flowed or is it somthing else ?

is there anyone in melb that does it ? any reccomendations ?

also stock gtr turbos and N1 turbos ? whats the difference ?

Rebuild - is just that, rebuilding to exactly the same spec.

Hi-flow - is maching the turbine housing and/or the compressor housing - the goal of this is to allow larger wheels.

Obviously larger wheels make more power, but at the same time have more lag/delay associated with the

Rebuilding a turbo;

http://www.rotomaster.com.au

They rebuilt my hks2530 (new ball bearings and seals) for $800

They were the cheapest because they are a garett distributor and can source bearings by themselves etc

To rebuild bush-bearing turbo's (standard turbo's and some highlows (if not converted to ball bearing)) the price is around $500 from quotes i got from other turbo shops

the main difference between highflow and rebuild is the highflow fits higher flowing components, whereas the rebuild uses standard items. both include

new compressor wheel

new exhaust wheel

new bearings CHRA

balance and clean

at least a proper rebuild would, so either way, you basically end up with a new turbocharger. the only thing that is old and not replaced is the housings, as they don't wear out. the highflow version uses higher flowing compressor wheel, they bore out the exhaust snout, fit a larger exhaust wheel. so it can flow more, and the compressor can put in more airflow/pressure.

the standard BNR32 turbochargers are ceramic and 0.42 a/r compressor

the bnr32 N1 turbochargers would be steel wheelies and 0.60 a/r compressor (from memory)

so the n1 is by far superior, better exhaust wheel (steel vs ceramic) and larger compressor and rear housing

check the N1 specs, as i think they could be a touch different, just make sure BNR32 n1's are 0.60/ar

I am also considering having my turbo high flowed (RB25DET Neo). Should this be done as suggested by a garett distributor or will a place like hypergear produce the same results? Basically after a durable and cost effective upgrade from stock that will help achieve 200rwkw and take a reasonable amount of boost.

Any information welcome.

Sorry for thread whoring  Just thought it was cool as hasn't been active since last month..
