Can Anyone In Act Help Me Fix My Steering Problem (r31)

hey ive got an 1989 R31 executive and theres a problem with the steering it clunks when i turn the wheel and its really dodgey and when i open up the hood and turn the wheel i can see something below the engine moving and apparently that shouldnt be moving

can anyone help me in person or give me advice on this forum?

Sounds like the rack itself is moving when you turn the wheel...

Check the rack mounts to see whether there is any rubber bush left in them - if they are heavily worn or there is no rubber there at all, replace them. That should hold the rack in place.

Other than that, it could be badly worn tie rods or rack ends.
