Suspension Quandries

OK all you suspension guru's out there. Basically I just want to hear some comments from people on either side of the fence in regards to Whiteline or Tein suspension. I'm looking for something that will stick to the road, and also be fully adjustable as I'd like it a little higher than current due to the front lip scraping on the drivway :x Any comments you have are welcome :!:

Jimbo, Whiteline are using my car for developement on the R33 T. I've got the full package they offer and i kid you not it rocks! The car corners like it's on rails. The best $ you'll spend. It improves lap times too.

Dont know about GAB shocks but whiteline handling pack will make a big difference 2 your car. their parts are good, but I would recommend that U not let them touch your car. They are a bunch of................

If U can wait and install a good set of coilovers ( height and damper adj) combined with a handling pack ( swaybar, adj camber,castor, suspension bushes etc). Your car will handle better than a Go Kart.

I had my suspension done last week and it feels as if there is glue on my tyres :) I still cant stop grinning.

I'm a bilstien man. Ive has 5 or 6 sets over the years and they are very good with out being really harsh as I have a bad back. I have them on the r32 and just priced them for the r33 1k approx + fitting. alot of guy want really hard but that is not good you want a little give to let you know when its going to let go.

try quadrant suspension they do alot of touring car teams and rally cars etc they have been in businees for around 20 years so they know their stuff one thing I'm considering is the urathane bushes for the r33 not sure yet they do springs as well. I also got told today that koni docustom built shock for between 800-1200

worth a thought.

Akira, what pack did you get and if you don't mind me asking how much did it cost ? Did you install yourself ?

Is it worth installing any suspension kit by yourself, or should it be completed by those who know what they're doing :wink: ?

jimbo, you haven't defined what sort of driving you intend to do once you have finished building. For example it would be an absolute waste of money to put strut/sway bars on your car if you intend race on a dragstrip.

where a cars tyres needs to "feel" every available piece of bitumen.

Although I will be taking the car to the drags occasionally, I'd rather have the car set up for handling, I want something that will stick around corners. I have 18" rims on at the moment so it's not really the quickest off the line to start with.

At the end of the day I want something I can pull through a corner hard without the fear I'm going to lose the back. I'd also like it a little higher than current as at the moment my front lip scrapes exiting my driveway at any angle and I havn't tried taking on any speed bumps yet :cry: Think BMW handling, and you've got it in one.

i dont know what your budget is like but have you considered some kind of front lifting system such as the diablo uses which operates via a cockpit button and lifts/lowers the front by 100 mm

this type of setup would reduce your need to lift the car as, its pretty hard to "lift" your car and achieve maximum cornering ability

remember that you want to acieve the lowest centre of gravity that you can

do some research into finding the aforementiuoned system as i am sure that lamborghini aren't the only ones that do it and you may have a mechanical engineering friend that may be able to build some kind of pneumatic system that attaches to your front adjustables

Budget would be up to $3000, however could possibly go to $4000.

I believe I have two main options for lowering and raising the vehicle either being through hyrdaulic pumps or air bags. The bags seem to be the cheaper of the two options, and I've also been advised they would be the best as if a bag blows the cars suspsneison is still fully functional, where as if a pump goes, not only do you have oil all over the place, but the ride will be hard as. Another benefit of the bags is that they don't require a boot full of batteries to power. I'm not sure where I would be able to have these fitted though.

I'd certainly be more interested in having the car lower with a full kit from Whiteline and bags installed on all 4 points to raise and lower the entire vehicle for obstacle navigation than to have to raise the ride height at all times.

Has anyone attempted such on their Sky ? or any other vehicle for that matter.

Hehehe, I know. I don't really want it that low though, and I certainly don't wish to use the bags for bouncing. Just sick of having the get the front lip resprayed and looking for a permanent alternative so I can take on anything that happens to be of marginal height.

I got the handling Pack ( Sway bars, suspension bushes,adj s=castor and camber etc). I made the mistake of letting them install the kit. I'll tell you all the details when we meet up on the next cruise. Get your mechanic U trust 2 install Ur suspension and get a wheel alignment.

I wanted my car 2 handle like Schumachers Ferrarri, with softer rear settings for 0 -400 m launches. The front is extra firm with a triangular strut brace for added torsional rigidity.

It took me around 6 months of homework to decide on a package and setup.
