Hi guys

I know this topic has come up many times before but I'm hoping to get a couple of simple answers that might help me and others in the future...

1/ How do you make the screen go up or down?

2/ What are my options for using it in Oz?

I drove my car for the first time tonight (at night) and found the screen really annoying and distracting in the dark First day I drove it, it wouldn't go up, now it pops up every time. I've seen others have had this problem but I couldn't see an proper answer, except for something like "the buttons that say up and down don't actually make it go up and down" .

As for the options... I don't want to know any trade secrets or wiring or whatever... I'd just like some advice on what is possible. I'm happy to pay someone to do it if you want to recommend a business...

i have this screen

i must be lucky tho, the 'open/close' button works and actually makes the screen go up and down when pressed, so i have a choice of driving with it popped up or not

the screen also automatically opens upon start up and closes on shut down...

im thinking of hooking up a dvd player in replacement of the cd player that is currently connected to the screen... i've herd this is possible.

if it's faulty, just junk it and put the triple guage pod in there ..you can get those from wreckers and sometimes ebay.

Chris_Rogers is (I have heard and spoken to him about) a God in terms of using the Xanavi Head Unit and surrounding for other functionalities. Im pretty sure he can do some funky things with the Xanavi set-up. Give him a PM and he should be able to help you out

since the forum had a dummy spit. if yours works grab the second AV input in the boot and feed a NTSC video signal into it. that will give you video in. if you have yanked the OEM tape then it will dispaly video without switching the audio out (which it does by default with the OEM unit.)

I did see your post and reply to you (and everyone else in this thread).. but yeah... forum dummy spit.. and then I forgot what I posted lol

My car battery actually died, so now with the disconnection, the Xanavi is completely dead too (unless there's some standard code to get it working again). The other HU that was installed below it (a CD/mini disc thing) is also dead

So I guess I'll just give up on both of them, and buy a new one

Hi Chris,

I have been trying to contact you for a little while now as I have heard you’re a GOD with the Xanavi HU. I have one in my 34 and it appears to be unplugged or disconnected as it doesn’t light up at all. I imported it myself and a lot of things seemed to come disconnected. The tiptronic button for the sterling wheel for example. Is it common for the units to be unplugged at some point when imported? 
Also what are my options with the unit as I would love if it worked even if it served no actual purpose

if it doesn't work, not much use. all the controls are in the 'CD' player. if thats gone then its a paperweight.
