The ECU arrived from Prestige Motorsport today, looks fine.

I've opened the casing and inspected the internals and had a good look at the pins on the plug outside and everything is 100%.

Hopefully get a chance over the next 2 weeks to hook the new unit up to the m35 and ensure it's 100% operational in my vehicle.

Then it's off to Silverwater Automotive Service (SAS) for the beginning of the Testing & Development of the tuned remap.

This thread will be where I put all the information and stats etc from SAS.

Here are some pics of the new ECU, they are pretty crap but they'll have to do for now!

  • 2 weeks later...

Just a little update..

I spoke with Tom from SAS yesterday and he explained the process a little more, they will need my car and the spare ecu for 2 days so I will hopefully arrange this in the next few weeks.

The spare ECU will have a chip soldered onto the existing board, this ECU will be used for the real-time tuning on the dyno. Once they have reached the optimum tune or whatever I request (i.e. best fuel effeciency vs. power output), they then do a chip and solder it in to the ECU that is currently fitted to my car.

When the next M35 rolls in for a remap they restart the process, in with the spare ECU (the one I have atm) real-time dyno tune etc.

It is done this way to avoid damage to the vehicles ECU, I don't have firm pricing and probably won't until they have remapped my car as they have never done an M35.

Once they have however I will get the first visit estimate and subsequent visits for further remapping after mod's etc.

Sorry it's taking so long guys, working Monday to Friday is a drag lol

no drama, great work you are doing. :(

I am looking forward to hearing the results.

When do you want the turbo?

Cheers

thats sounding a bit better now! good work Stephen, hopefully it all turns out good and is under $1000

all i need now is these freeekin dump pipes made, exhaust and tune! cant wait!

Under $1000? maybe for me LOL I think they will need to buy the ECU from me so that will take $440 off the price of my remap

I think it's going to typically be between $1200 - $1400 but subsequent visits for retunes/remap will be at a reduced rate.

Once again these are only ball park figures and cover the dyno run tuning etc, they have never remapped an M35 so that's why I can't provide firm pricing at this point in time.

I'm keen to be the guinea pig though so let's get the show on the road :bunny:

I've got to hook the spare ECU up to my M35 to ensure it is functioning, then I wouldn't mind testing it in Ian's M35 too just to ensure there are no problems with the spare. Once that is confirmed and there are no hassles I can start working out when I can get it in so they can start.

Great to hear SAS has finally got their hands on an ecu, I started working on this with SAS sometime back with Project AXIS and we were 95% there and the only stumbling block was finding an ECU to get the other 5 %.(They didnt wanrt to risk stuffing up my ecu so we got no further until a test ecu bacame available) The target was 200KW at all paws for me with thre added mods of a full turbo back exhaust and Greddy front mount cooler. The AXIS has found a new home with a another fellow enthusiast who is good mates with SAS and I'm sure will continue with the final stages of Project AXIS now that you have struck gold with supplying a test ecu...well done and good luck with your development.

Cheers

TT

ok cameron and i were chatting about this yesterday. with the nismo ecu, the sync button was an economy mode. this would probably shift the ECU to another map. Can SAS give us a second map? personally i couldnt give a shit about the snow mode. ill never use it, but if i can have a all out power map or an economy map, then it would be a great use of the potential of our cars.

rekon you can speak to them about this stephen?? id be happier to hand over that sort of money for 2 maps switchable on the fly with a button!

I hope to test the spare ECU this weekend and ensure nothing undesirable happened to it in Japan or on it's return journey to QLD and then postage to me

I was already contemplating the multiple map idea, mainly as you guys said maybe just two maps one for economy and one for ball breaking power thrusting fuel chewing performance :P

I don't know if it's possible but I will bring the subject up on next discussion, would obviously cost more as more dyno time would be involved and probably more involved on the ECU programming side of things. Might be something they need more time to work on, if so my first remap will just be economy vs power on the current configuration. It will be back in further down the track for another remap once all the main performance work has been completed.

Would be nice to have an economy option, especially for times like having your cars serviced so the grease monkey's don't go hooning around having a drift championship in your stag ;)
