Boost Controller Dilemmas

Hey everyone

Spoke to someone about boost controllers. What they told me is unless you are going to get an electronic boost controller with a two solenoid setup then the next only reliable choice is a manual boost controller (bleed valve).

They say that an electronic boost controller with one solenoid can have a problem if the solenoid overheats it can fail in the open position and let through unlimted boost.

Could this happen with cars that run low boost like 10psi?

Can a manual one still spike? If so how high?

I ordered a Turbosmart E-Boost Street before finding this out. Good or bad purchase?
