Hi Guys

I've been thinking about building a RB26dett and putting it into my 33, although i have a few questions regarding it.

1.Since ill be keeping it RWD would my current RB25det box bolt up to the 26dett without an adapter plate? also would the tailshaft need to be a different length?

2.Could i place a R32 RB26 in a R33? or would it be best to keep to the same model (r33) so the loom is quite similar?

3.Am i looking at a good power differance compared to the 25?

4.Will it drop straight in? (engine mounts different?)

I did try and search but i couldnt seem to find what i needed answered.

hopefully someone has done this and kept it RWD,

Thanks for the help guys/gals

Richard

There is a bloke in Townsville that has done this conversion.... You can find him on Qld street scene (www.queenslandstreetscene.com) and his user name is RB25_forever.

He'll be more than happy to answer any questions that you have :)

Ask Marty what it ended up costing him aswell lol. I don't see the cost benefit. The amount of money that conversion cost him could have had a fully built RB30/26 or RB30/25 with what ever turbo selection you wanted, instead of a 220rwkw stock internal RB26 that ended up letting go.

It all comes down to what work you could do yourself, if you could do everything yourself (engine out, engine in, wiring new loom etc) than it wouldn't be too bad.

Just the cost of the engine, ECU, sump modifications, wiring harness, exhaust modifications, intercooler piping, mod plate etc. I would do the clutch, engine mounts, fuel pump and a couple of other things while i was at it.

It all adds up. All the little things that you don't think of start costing a bit. Trust me on that one.

i have done a 26 conversion to my 32, it might help with ya 33

i guess you know you will have to get the 26 sump modified for rwd

you might have to change ya engine mounts on the 26 with ya GTS-t ones

with wiring you will prob have to wire in a resistor pack for the injectors thats with the 26 wiring loom

you will get around the 300wrhp+ on a stock 26

Anyone have any specifics? I have a 26 with loom im trying to power up. As i don't have the factory body loom i need a bit of info

I'm just trying to power up everything properly.. do i just run positive to the 2 relays near ecu or do i run it to the plug on the driver strut tower?

Is it an R33 RB26 loom you are using? Do you have a series 1 or 2 R33?

Ive got an r32 loom going into a race car with no loom whatsoever. Ive so far sorted out the power feed for the resistor pack and found the injector feeds in one of the big plugs on what i assume is the passenger guard part of the loom near the afms.

I'm sure you must be able to just run one or two power feeds to the loom somewhere on these plugs but i can't trace where. not having seen the original car makes things a bit tricky.
