Fellas,

I recently installed my Autronic SM4 (I might add my car pulled out a whoppin 363 rwkw), and the battery went dead last Sunday. I was like, ahh well, maybe its time to replace it, so I purchased a brand spankin new one, was working fine on Monday night, and I havent driven the car since Friday (today-4 days later)

WHen I tried to turn the car on this morning, the battery was dead, wtf??

I don't have any amps or shit like that so I know its not that. I took the battery back to super cheap, got a new one under warranty, but now I am disconnecting it everytime I finish driving which is a hassle.

ANy ideas what else it could be?

I was thinking the wiring might be f#$ked up on the SM4, and it's draining it somehow?

ANy ideas?

The digital input for the Aircon is incorrectly configured...its operating the aircon clutch all the time...hence the soliniod is drawing power and flattening the battery. Disconnect the connector to the aircon clutch and listen to it disengage...charge the battery up first. Leave it disconnected and see if you have battery power the next day after the battery is fully charged.

^^ that...or your alternator could be fubar

Out of curiosity, why would an alternator deaden a battery? I thought it was only operational once the car turns over?

ANyway, the alternator is a brand new bosch one.

I'll tell my tuner that it could be the air con configuration. Can someone please tell me where the connectot for the aircon clutch?

Cheers for the advice fellas.

Because you drove the car with the new battery. If the alternator was not charging it would slowly discharge the battery.

Also, the diodes inside can cause current draw problems when they fail.

But if you have a new one, then that is most likely to not be your problem.

Do as suggested, current draw test, find what is sucking out the power.

    • I'm running a Haltech Platinum Pro with the stock map for the RB20DET + tweaks for my build. When I started it this morning, the IAT was at 32F/0C (Outside temp was ~42F) and the AFRs went off the scale for my AEM gauge. I let it run for ~30 seconds then turned it off. I then did a smoke test, by hooking into a vacuum line directly behind the throttle body, and confirmed there was no leaks ( i let the smoke tester run for ~5 minutes / confirmed it was generating smoke before hand ). I then started the car again, after fixing a power steering leak.... and it seemed to be happy for ~30 seconds (was at ~11/12), but then seemingly shot back up to ~18 again. I then let the car run for a few minutes, thinking this was just cold start related, but the AFRs never came back down. I didn't let the car fully warm up, so maybe this makes sense, but I'm not sure what to do? The AFRs, when I last ran it, were normal, but because of personal reasons I haven't been able to break in the car. It was rebuilt last year.
