if only i had a skyline, i'd keep its stock, day one after owning the car and having the road worthy done, i'd head down to knox with RWC in glove box, wait untill he does his inspection, then show him the RWC. just to waste his time.

while 6-7 modded cars drive past

Man I was out on the eastside on Friday night after work. Went to Noble Park Maccas (my mate lives in Dandenong North) and I was telling my mate that there is blitz on tonight...the amount of f**ktards hanging out in the car reving cars up just made me laugh...then someone did obligatory yell out cops and watch them scatter...Cops did drive past and pulled up some cars coming out of maccas and I just drove away

Me and my mate also had to go to Knox Shopping Centre because to pick up his wife's neice and drive her back because she can't drive her car (she's 19 and owns a 02 Monaro CV8). She didn't drive it to work but her brother swapped cars. So I drove the Monaro back and get pulled up straight away and got tested

Here is the conversation I had with the cop

Cop: Is this your car?

Me: No, it's actually her car (pointing to her - she was sitting in the car)

Cop: Then why are you driving it?

Me: Because she's only on her P's and can't drive it. Her brother came and swapped cars earlier in the evening

Cop: Fair enough...Do you know how she paid for a car like this?

Me: She got it as a 18th birthday present

Cop: Lucky her! Wish my parents brought me a Monaro when I was 18...too bad she can't drive it (little do they know she does drive it around). Well you must be lucky to have a pretty lady like her and drive her car

Me: I guess I am.

They found nothing wrong with the car and sent us on our way. I told her and my mates wife when we got back and they were laughing about it.

97R33MSPEC, I used to think just like you...as did Ash (R31Nismoid). I am polite and courteous everytime I get pulled over. I offer police respect, but no more than I would any other stranger. They are not superior to me in any way, they are just there to enforce the law...it doesn't put them "above me" in any situation. Related: If I've broken the law you will never hear a "sorry officer" out me. I've committed a crime against the state, not the police officer. When I hear of people saying this to police...it sounds just like a child trying to get out of punishment because they've been taught to say sorry when they've done something wrong. So no, I don't think you should treat the police any different to a stranger unless you plan on trying to feed a power trip (that may or may not exist) in hopes of getting off.

I have had many a good experience with decent officers over the years, but they are not robots running on predetermined logic...there ARE plenty of shit cops who will have no problem taking out frustration or a slow day on you. Given the number of corrupt (and caught for it) police out there when it comes to drugs and violence, you can't think that the TMU are exempt from something so easy to get away with.

If you think Pettit (I've given up trying to spell his last name) isn't doing anything wrong...then you've never been pulled over by him. Not everyone getting dicked by the police is mouthing off to them. I think you'll find most people shit themselves and turn into submissive little puppy dogs when police turn up at the scene.

You'll change your mind the day you get unfairly done for something not expensive enough to justify taking to court (only to find out that your word against the police means nothing), but enough to take a decent chunk out of your income.

u will still get defected even with a rwc. makes no difference.

for the record i have a fair idea on how these situations end through the experiences with my family and that of the majority of the public who own modified cars. i work for a company who i wish to leave nameless, i modify cars for a living and have a strong relationship with most of the modified car owners in victoria so i know a lot of stories and often have close experiences with the police.

and yeah, shouldnt jump to conclusions, if your car is done right even peddit wont defect you. i have been pulled over by him twice this year in my r33. once in January when he was in un-marked TMU car, and on friday he got me and my mate.

both times i have not been defected.

at the end of the day, do wat you want, treat cops however you want.i dont actually care as it doesnt effect me. the more of you who treat them badly, the more they will be suprised when they meet me.

When did we ever say we treated them badly? All I said is I don't suck up to the police and turn into a little bitch the moment the red and blues start flashing. If you wanna offer headjobs at five finger discount that's your perogative. You're somewhat ignorant if you believe that everyone getting defected and complaining about it is being an asshole to the police. I don't doubt there are plenty who are ass holes to them, but they do not make up all the numbers of people getting defected for no good reason. The police have so many discretionary powers that it doesn't need to be a good reason. Do you realise that the TMU can defect you for something so minor and subjectively arguable, that the thing you were defected for would pass under inspection at the pits if it weren't written on the defect notice? Reality check, if Pettit doesn't like the look of you or your car he doesn't need to prove shit to defect you. You pay your fine if you get one, and you have the inconvenience/cost of going to the pits...only to get passed because the EPA notice was bullshit in the first place. Guess what? Officer doesn't see repercussions from it.

Plus the mentality of things such as this blitz, is that the police are targeting and pulling over any and every import or hot car they see - completely ignoring the bald tyres that might be on the '83 Corolla. It's a friggen joke.

Company you wish to leave nameless? What an ego...that's right mate, we're all going to judge you by that and/or attack the place you work at. I hope you run into an asshole of a cop, you truly deserve it.

hey birds . . . howcome when ever there is a discussion there is a fair chance your going to heat things up and start to personally attack people ?

there's no need for that talk, its an open discussion and story telling by the looks of things. no raggin on there experiences, or how they deal with the cops.

each to there own, argue whats been said, dont attack the person saying it cause you disagree . . .

u will still get defected even with a rwc. makes no difference.

cop tried to defect me once when I was driving a car between workshops with a tradeplate on.

he argued black and blue that he could do it.

took the notice into his station, spoke to his supervisor and found out the guy was a rookie and had the fine cancelled.

just as well, the car I was driving had a topmount td06-18G (or something like that), rollcage, no front bumper, hood or fenders, or a passenger side door from memory.

Damn it. We lost my defence to TJ's question too! In short:

-He attacked me first, or atleast his post read that way.

-He sounds like an arrogant person.

-To my recollection I've only ever gotten personal once on these forums after an unnecessarily long exchange of messages and people thinking they are impervious to the law / shit happening.

Damn it, we also lost that awesome post from Phatboy pointing out 97R33MSPEC's hypocrisy in saying if you drive a legally/properly modified car you'll have no trouble from the police, after earlier stating that he successfully avoided a canary despite an illegally low car. Good thing I remembered it ;)

f**k it... i agree with the bird man here....

cops have too much power in these situations, and DO abuse them... its a fact and we all know it... some cops are good, but meh, its still gonna suck when you cop a bad one!

(FWIW i am always polite when i'm pulled over and it usually does help as they have a stereotype in mind when they pull me over, but its still not gonna help you every time, and thinking that it will, is just plain retarded)

You can fool urselves all u want. End of the day i hope that u realise what alot of us already know: Its us against them.

No, being a cop is not a respectable job

No you shouldn't show respect and be submissive

Yes, there is a large proportion of cops out there who are corrupt (much larger than what the public perceives,) This is a cultural thing that goes all the way to the top (ie Ex Dep. Comm. Noel Ashby)

No, a cop will not have a problem taking ur car off the road even if u need it tomorrow to drive ur terminally ill mother (who cant travel by plane) to Sydney so she can have specialist surgery and then drive to Canberra to pick up ur Order of Australia Medal even though you have a perfect driving record.

No, the purpose of TMU and the whole traffic enforcement system in Vic is not for safety but for revenue.

Yes, most police officers join the force for the power trip and will most likely take this out on you. The works dangerous, the pay is shit, the reputation is crap; while else would u join?

Yes, if enough ppl write/communicate these concerns with their local constituent then things can change

Just letting you all know

STAY CLEAR OF BERWICK..

Wall to wall booze busses and marked and unmarked everywhere..

2 busses on Clyde Rd

Not that im worried for all you drink drivers im not.

Its just all the cop cars they are pulling everything over..

  • 2 weeks later...
i got done at knox when i was about to head home =[ i said to mates i didnt wanna go anywhere that night just home and i get done leaving..

yeah i spoke to the guy with front mount hanging out and no front bar, was on his p's.

few other lines in their, como's, wrxs.

i got done for EPA 99db, and bald tyres which i had planned to get fixed in few days. + $190 fine on top of it.

spewing about the exhaust i love the sound of mine, and theres no way im having a gay silencer welded in.

sorry didn't look more into the thread at this moment, but just thought to add if your getting an inspection on your car and you know about it shove steel wool down your exhaust it takes the loudness down and everything. a trick alot of people do on cars and bikes to pass through these type of things.

have not personally tried it myself. but have been told that it does work.

feedback is appreciated. if you have tried it or do try it out.

eh as said before depends on time place and the cop.. when my car got done about 2-3 weeks ago now i got a defect for front wheel allignment.. brand new tyres all around car was dead stock no illegal height they looked at my car for a good 20 minutes looking for my invisible turbo and possible mods and ended up giving a defect for front wheel allignment.. has got to be the most stupidiest defect i have ever heard and received. i cleared it just by showing vicroads my 4 wheel allignment i just got done like a day before i got defected and they cleared it.. really shows how much power they have to do your car for anything.. sure they target imports but some really have it in for them dont they?

Could be because of the bad name the skyline has gotten. Could also be envious that they didn't / can't own one. Or it could be that the officer just had a bad day and needed to get back at someone.

Nah... think it's all just "revenue" rasing.

i got a defect for front wheel allignment

Now theres a new one for me :P but I guess you learn something new everyday.

[sarcasm]So do the cops pull out laser aligning gear or strings to work out that your wheels are out of alignment by 0.01 of a deg?[/sarcasm]

lol.. i sent in a complaint about it whether it will do anything or not.. most probably not but hey its worth a try... i think it was pretty ridiculious to get pulled over for.. i didnt bother arguing them cause i had the receipt for 4 wheel allignment in car didnt think it be smart to show them it just incase theyd think i was being a smart ass.. stupid P's.. less than a year to go *sigh*

    • UPDATE: Hi all!  As we are getting towards the end of this thread where I’ll showcase final dyno numbers and graph, I wanted to provide an update. Tao from HyperGear has done an amazing job building the custom divided T3 housing for the G30. Communication was flawless, price was great, and now the housing is estimated to arrive in 7-10 days! Very very pleased. I must add, if someone is looking for an affordable turbo and end up reading this thread, I would recommend HyperGear. Genuine brands are the way to go as their reliability is proven, performance can be predictable, and there’s a plethora of information available for specs, flow, and more. This HyperGear recommendation is based on their excellent communication, dedication, and willingness to listen to their customers. I particularly liked their ability to create custom adaptations tailored to specific needs, which is a HUGE benefit over other brands. And if we consider the HyperGear provided dyno results, it adds reassurance knowing their turbos can compete against genuine brands. Next update will be after the dyno!
    • I've previously seen people post up "dress up bolt kits" for RBs but don't remember seeing them specify the full contents. I can only really suggest you grab the verniers and start measuring, and keep in mind the cam cover and timing cover bolts are both quite specific with a wider unthreaded section where the bushes sit, that will make it hard to get aftermarket replacements which tend to be all thread (set screws) or for longer bolts a flat section with a shorter threaded section at the end
    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
    • Wasn't there a thread on this very subject just a few weeks ago?
    • Hi all! Looking to relocate the battery to the trunk of an R34 GTT. I want to do it using as many stock GTR components as I can (including the harness protectors from the 34 GTR that run underneath along the chassis to the engine bay). So far I’ve purchased the battery tray from a 33 GTR, as the captive weld nuts are already there just asking to be used. There is also the slight issue of now having to relocate the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU, which in GTT’s sits right above where the battery will then sit on the tray. Has anyone already achieved this, and if you have any pics that you wouldn’t mind sharing? It would be great to see how others have done it and where you put them, as there are countless holes in the parcel shelf panel to potentially use. Just trying to get some ideas bounced around, and to help uncover any potential problems I may encounter by  my choice of location. TIA for any help!
