zebra
Cage will be next for my car - gonna go a bond bolt in 6 point kit, dont have the cash for a full weld in one, as much as I would like it. zebra
Nah I didnt think of that, Im trying to clear up my loan as fast as possible, once thats done it will free up a heap of funds, So i may delay the cage for a while and run the car in supersprints / track days While I learn to drive the thing properly before I start doing door to door stuff, Last think I would want is to wreak sombody elses car off, because of a silly mistake or somthing. In other news I have the car at my house now, and I even gave it a wash, Just gotta wait for my de-cat pipe to turn up so I can fit the exhaust up, and not piss the neighbours off with a straight exhaust lol. Question re: Bonnet pins, If I have no bonnet latch do i need to run 2 sets of pins or does 1 pair count as 2 bonnet restraints? NZM.031
my reading of the bonnet pins was that if the car is road registered.. and has the normal bonnet latch.. it must have pins as a secondary catch... but if its unregistered.. then it only needs pins.. but thats just my interpretation of it. zebra
A bolt in is easy enough for me (circa $1k), but a weld in is generally twice the price or more going off the quotes ive had. Plus Im saving for a decent daily that can tow, so things will slow down on this build front for a while. TiTAN
was going to say the VN should be up for grabs once we get the VT. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/280635-zebras-2010-mra-gts-t-build/page/13/#findComment-5264686 Share on other sites
zebra
What sorta condition is the VN in and what is it? Was just thinking that the Toyota is about the same weight/power/brakes as a VN, how does it go towing a R33? Risking
I'm sure Duncan will agree. Don't go with a bolt in cage, save your money and do it once properly. I actually owe my life to a bolt in cage from some 10 years or so ago but I'd never recommend one for circuit racing. I'f you know what you want pm me and I'll give you a quote to do a proper cage. Duncan
yeah look the difference between a bolt in and full on weld in is about $1k (esp if you get brad to do it). It is a permanent investment in that shell and apart from safety will tie the car together much better. Considering a single set of semi slicks or slicks are $2k+ a weld in cage is good value Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/280635-zebras-2010-mra-gts-t-build/page/13/#findComment-5265436 Share on other sites

zebra
It needs to be tuned, and im still trying to decide whether to have this one tuned or just wait for the RB30. I may still run the 25 but wont be done before the SAU day, Too much to do and I dont wanna rush things to get it all done. Edit, Also needs a new timing belt Edited June 1, 2010 by zebra Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/280635-zebras-2010-mra-gts-t-build/page/13/#findComment-5267095 Share on other sites
r33_racer
Yeh exactly. Dont go rushing stuff. Will only end in regrets later on. Take your time and do it proper! Thats the plan im sticking to with my project. I must admit it does get tempting to just go hard out and dodge it up to finish it quickly. What sort of RB30 you planning on building? Just the typical rb30 route, forged rods and pistons, maybe cams, nothing spectacular.
