haha yeah I will, I did find, i think it was on perfectrun the cusco arms for 480ish..but only had a quick look at the details.

Do you think its worth getting lower arms aswell, I know justjap sell them too :P was thinking I could maybe push the track out a bit more on the front?

If I ever get paid for the last job I did ill take a trip out to kirrawee, and get some new shiny suspesion stuff

Edit: Just looked at justjaps upper arms, I thought they were more expensive than that.

Okay with suspension arms DONT go to overboard

Again stick with the most simple suspension you can get away with.

Untill your driving is above average your not going to notice any small changes and lower arms etc are not going to make you any faster

Get the ussual arm package and nothing more. Save your cash for entry fees and tires.

The more you change from the factory geometry the more chance you have of going backwards real fast.

Its taken ages to get my current GTR quick again after we stuffed around with the geometry a ridiculous ammount.

Have you sourced a cage etc yet??

as far as tracking an r33 gtst goes...

Take everything out of the car. strip it all and dont look back. Cage it, find a spare rubbish dash and cut it up to suit, either keep or sell your good one

suspension wise, sit the thing 80-100mm off the ground and fix the camber at the rear. i wouldn't really bother with any other "adjustable" bits for a while. Just get it aligned properly and practise driving

brakes brakes brakes!! I only ever had standard calipers with dot6 fluid, slotted rotors and braided lines and QFM race pads. I would suggest moving straight to something more serious as there is a lot around these days. This was fine for my sissy driving however, and i was able to outbreak the tyres easily

a good seat and helmet and you will have a fun car. you dont need much power to go very fast

Brad, Ive sorted out the cage now just waiting for funds, going to buy my ecu today, then after that will be a seat, then try and hit the track on few club days at wakie after its tuned.

Going to try and do a couple of advanced driver training courses before to long aswell

Oh yeah, forgot to add. I tore the front bar off the car outside hills motorsports yesterday lol.

No major damage doen, just gotta rewire the indicators, the bar is now held on by good old race tape for that true race car look and feel :)

good to see a 33GTSt build, they are so underrated as a track car

cage not so important for now, I would get a seat and harness before a cage... get a good mechanical diff in it, a good brake setup (stock is fine as long as you have decent pads, rotors and fluid)... a reliable oil pressure and oil temp guage will help you save the motor, as will a good, safe tune... an oil cooler is always nice to have too

to be quick you need to be comfortable, have traction, suspension balance and plenty of midrange punch and brakes that you can be confident in... the rest is making it reliable enough to last plenty of laps... I've never been good at the latter

Cheers nick, already got most of the stuff you mentioned apart from the diff, I dont have the budget to allow for fancy stuff like mech diffs yet lol.

a cage is a requirement for MRA so it has to be done.

So far im very happy with my turbo choice, even with a standard ecu it feels very strong through the mid range, Havnt taken it over about 4500rpm and 2-3 psi yet though.

ah okay didn't know the cage was required... it seems I can't read properly;)

yeah took me a long time of single spinning out of slow corners before I had the budget available to do the diff... but once I did it I wished I had done it earlier... it was even a problem when I only had 185rwkw

are the KKK turbos ball bearing? supposed to be good gear but you would be the only person I know of running one on an RB25... interested to see the results... the intake plenum your running has shorter runners than the standard 25 plenum so will move torque up the rev range a bit but should be good for circuit stuff... should be pretty quick when its up and running

The turbo is Journal bearing and only oil cooled.

Yeah its the 1st ive heard of one on a 25 aswell, so im also keen to see how it goes, so far it feels better than the old hiflow, but this motor has 9:1 comp comapard to the old one which had 8.5:1, I quite like short runners on any engine, makes them feel snappy and responsive, even if the torque curve doesnt show it. Just personal prefence I guess

The good this with these turbos is that Brand new exhaust housings are less than 400 bucks, so I'll get myself a .9ar housing one day to comapare back to back.

Not sure exactly what the colour is off, its either a 350z or a VZ commodore

what did you decide to do with the cage??

Bonds kit and modify it to suit your requirements??

Im doing heaps of them atm to get guys going.

Yeah Bond half cage with harness bar, then do the front legs to MRA spec closer to next season.

I ordered my Emanage Ultimate Yesterday, but unfortunatly couldnt get a plug in harness aswell, so im on the look out for a N-4 Plug in harness for it.

If anyone knows of one in Aus thats a semi reasonable price please let me know.

    • Only in a market where OBD was a thing. The rest of the world was quite happy to let the US EPA only affect US cars for quite a while. The* problem with datalogs is that unless you are very familiar with what every trace should look like, on their own and as an ensemble, you can and will see weird shit that can and will lead you astray, not realising that what you are seeing is the normal consequence of various transient inputs. *Really, "a" problem, as there are of course many other problems too. Look, these cars are so bloody simple that if it is missing or stumbling, the obvious thing is to break out the old mental diagnostic list and just go do all the things that you know you should. After proving that the plugs are clean and sound, ditto the coil stalks, coils, loom connectors, etc, and then making sure that there is fuel pressure at about the right numbers (while driving!, not while sitting in the garage free blipping it), then maybe you go looking at AFM voltages, manually testing the igniter, putting a scope on the CAS, etc. Then you're into pulling the injectors for a spray pattern look-see and perhaps a clean, squirting carby cleaner around the inlet manifold looking for leaks, and all the more annoying and esoteric, but still common as muck faults that these things have. I wouldn't ever bother looking at the trims, as they are usually bullshit on these old clunkers anyway.
