How stupid of me, I didn't even think of DC pumps haha

when are you going to buy yours?

Will you hook it up on full time operation or a toggle?

Thermo fan on the heat exchanger or are you going to do the tap into the radiator setup?

I'll get all mine together after the SAU wakie day.

Going to run the pump off the ign switch, and yeah a thermo fan on the heat exchanger which will sit where the current intercooler is...ive also got a 10L water/ice box in the boot, so i'll fill it with ice cubes for short sprints, and the extra water will help keep temps down for longer runs.

Edit: Just thinking that i may even mount the heat exchanger directly in front of the radiator (under the support panel)

Will do.

Well after much thought last night about the dirty 30 build, I decided that it will indeed get a RB26 head, after talking to a few places about getting the damage on my 25 head fixed it would be cheaper and easier to just throw a good GTR one on.

It will probably run twin 2860-5's or -10s if im feeling adventurous, but if funds allow I may go a twin-scroll T04Z or Gt4088, but I could build a spare bottom end for the same dollars.

So if anyone see's cheap 26 parts (manifolds etc) please let me know :)

On the flip side of that, I could just buy a complete 26 and give it a quick freshen up (rings and bearings, crank collar etc) and run with that.

Please help me choose, I know the 30 will make a shed load more low end grunt but 26's rev a lot better.

argh! I cant choose lol

that's alright...I should've asked our IT guy at work when he was here.

I havent look at the Plazmamann ones yet....but im a cheap ass so i probably wont lol

you mean alex? i dont think he would have one kicking about in his car.

do you have a picture of the serial cable you need? 9 pin male to female? male to male? 9 pin to some random connector?

Lol how do you know Alex?

I ended up getting one off ebay.

Not true, my 30 matches the previous 26 rev for rev.

26 used to go to 8000rpm most days, the 30 has a soft limited at 9000 and the way I drive it, it gets up there!

Don't go -10's though, it's too much power for a gtst. When you're racing would you rather wheelspon and heaps of power or a smaller amount but a linear curve of usable power? Also given that Wakefield is probably where the car will do most work, get turbos to match there-nothing would suck more than having a monster sized setup around the hook section that needs the back straight to get some boost up.

The supra guys that do track work are moving away from the 4088's and to4z's for large 35r's and some towards precision billets.

I'd suggest a 3L with rods and pistons, 26 head with tomei 260 cams and dash5's would be a real weapon

Tyre smoke gets teh biartches though lol.

I think you are right about the -10s and RWD though.

Come over and ill take you for a ride in my r32, that will make sure you dont buy similar setup for a rwd car

The tyres on the front are new (with cast tabs), the rears are showing about an inch of belt per side, and ive seriously been easy on it.

What are you doing for brakes?

haha...I'll hit you up next time im up that way.

As for brakes, Im not 100% sure yet, I've been thinking about Wilwood 6-pot forged superlights and 330-340mm rotors (I cant remember what the calipers will swallow. But that will all be sorted out later on, depending on how the standard stuff holds up...my bet is not to well...but we will see...if I hit the tyre wall on the outside of turn 2 at wakie than ill know ill need better brakes :)

    • Nope. The seal is in the drive. A new cable would just fill up and continue to convey oil to the speedo head. To check if this is what is happening, take the cluster out, dismantle the speedo and have a look. You probably don't even have to dismantle it. If there is oil coming up the cable, the drive into the speedo will be grossly greasy. I had to manually (and delicately) clean the gunk out of my speedo.
    • Thanks for the quick response mate, and I agree Nismo 555s, Z32 and high flow 2871 in OP6 housing (run by PowerFC) would all be "period correct" and should be a simple, reliable and reasonably quick track car.
    • It is normal for a speedo to read 0-10% high (unfortunately), intended by manufacturers and ADRs (although not in this case) to ensure your speedo does not read low if your tyres are worn. Speaking of which, what size tyres do you have on the rear, and what does they tyre placard say you should have? you can use this https://tiresize.com/calculator/ to determine what % difference that is causing Personally, when I buy tyres for a car I buy a size that will bring the speedo back to being more accurate; it if it reads 5% high I buy tyres that are 5% larger diameter. If you had an electronic speed sender like R33 onwards, the other option is to add a speedo adjuster but that won't work in R32. Finally, you  might be able to find a different sized gear for the speedo sender but that will be limited to what already exists (and I don't know what sizes do)
    • OK...so dumb question to check....do the hi beams actually come on when the push the stalk to engage them (keeping in mind your headlight switch must be at ON as well)
    • Nah it factory manual not sure about ratio but it looks like there’s been some work at the rear
