i got a kaki regu on my car, make over 300kw with it so not restriction so far. see how it gose when i put my -5s on. i dont think my cannon has a silencer in it.....

i really think the sounds of your exhaust also comes down to your cams, dumps, and front pipes aswell... the sounds change quite abit when changing these items, so somtime you mite here someones car and think it sounds awesome...... so you think you can just go buy the same catback and bam youll have the same... most of the time thats not the case... just a heads up

This is VERY true. Myself and a friend had an HKS Hi power silent on our identical modded R33's, they sounded a touch different because of different dump pipes, and then he stuck an HKS bolt on turbo kit, and personally i liked the sound better on the stock turbo.

Yeah no one does know it until you accidently stumble across it or see pics. I had a thread somewhere showing all the pics of it and how I removed it etc so in my opinion the kaki regu 06 is just a cheap lie in regards to good flowing exhuast with minimal noise when as a matter a fact its just that welded in silencer thats doing all the sound reduction, but in saying that once you take the restrictor out its a great exhuast flow wise and sounds great even though it probably isnt the queit exhuast you would expect now. So what I learned was there is no cheap way of high flowing exhuast while being quiet unless your going to go for $3000 system like racepace will make.

I can confirm that they do too

old Kaki N1 don't but they're loud

new kaki N1 and regu06 do, which is what makes them quiet

fujitsubo super Ti also does, friend had it on his r34 and it also has a 2.5 inch restrictor

i had to settle for the regu06 because the car got unbearably loud with the GCG highflow when i had HKS silent hi power

and boostn0199 was right, i had to pull a lot of timing on the mid to top end with the kaki to avoid pinging

my guess with the kaki regu06, is that the older cars like r32 may not have a restrictor, because of japanese regulations allowing older cars to be louder than newer models

so thats why a lot of r32 owners don't see a restrictor, but i may be wrong

last time i looked at the blitz nur when i went to justjap, they also have the restrictor too, not sure if its 2.5 inch though

5 zigen also do, but its bigger than 2.5 inch and its loud

cannons are just going to be loud without a restrictor full stop, its physics and there's no way you can go against it

so if anyone wants the car to be quiet either live with a cannon with a restrictor, or get one with an oval muffler

that said i've also tried an RSR which had 2 huge oval mufflers, but it was still loud with the turbo i've got

Since I upgraded my turbo and cat, my HKS Silent Power is so much louder. I love this exhaust to bits, the way it sound the growl is like the angriest tiger you will ever hear. At idle/cruising in 5th sure it might be legal but lol there is no way in f**k stick this exhaust is legal at stand still with a rev. I would have went HKS, Ive heard both exhausts and prefer HKS. Ive also got the JJR bellmouth dump.

at idle same set up 89.9db and 102.9 db @ 4500 rpm 1m away

and i agree too

compared 2 cars with same turbo, transferred the RSR cat back from my car to the other car and it was nice and quiet

beats me

Although i swapped my HKS onto an R33 with a GT3076R and it soundes pretty much the same as stock untill the wastegate opened. Then it sounded like the world was going to implode with awesomeness. hahaha

I assure you they have one heaps of ppl have said to me theres dont and when show me the pic its there. Its not your average obvious silencer it is fit in very well hard to tell. If you would like to put a pic of inside your cannon ill tell you.

Have a look in this topic i have put my pics of it and removal.

Anyone have a kakimoto full mega N1? Apparently it passed the jasma 93db limit?

According to YouTube clips, seems quite loud?

the old N1 and the new N1+ are totally different things

old N1 is loud, just has a hotdog and a cannon

new N1 is quiet, quieter than the regu06R IMO, has a oval resonator and a restrictor in the cannon

The N1 is just STUPID STUPID loud when the gates crack.

I have been asked countless times if ii have a screamer pipe.... They are internally gated RS's!

Would the new hks hi power silent flow 300+rwkw with -7's and all supporting mods, or are they a it restrictive to keep the sound level down?

all (3) the HKS silent hi power i've come across for R33 gtsts have no restrictor in it.

but they're loud

just look at the muffler and if you can see the perforated tube then it doesnt

Yup my fujitsubo catback exhaust had a restriction as well down from 3.5" exhaust to a 2.5" restriction in the rear muffler! Can anyone confirm if any of these exhausts dont have a restriction? See the link posted above for pics. If you look inside the rear muffler and measure it, then measure the piping before the muffler.

The hks silent are loud? Even when putting around normally on the streets?

I'm not too fussed if it's loud when your giving it stick !

Yeah they are a bit. But not overly horrible IMO. I have it on my R33 GTSt

Okay i've tried a couple exhaust and i've db tested each of them,

1)5sizen border iii - 75db idle

2)Bee - R - 78 DB IDLE

3)Blitz Nur spec-R 80db idle

4)Kakimoto full mega N1 single 87db idle

The kakimoto full mega N1 single is freaking loud, its about 78-80db with the silencer on but once its off, the sound its freaking amazing. It has a very mellow gurgle but sounds nice around 3k rpm, but absolutely amazing floored. None of the youtube video you can find on youtube can describe it, you just have to hear it yourself. The setup is with catalic removed with straight pipe, mid pipe+resonator and back exhaust original full set from kakimoto. If i was to rate the sound, it would be

1)Bee-R exhaust (extremely rare to source but sounds absolutely like a GTR35 howling, amazing amazing sound. You can find a white german skyline with the bee-r on, i'll try to get the link once a get home from office. Its a complete different sound, makes your rb sounds like a VR38dett engine with TUBI exhaust on it)

2)really nice low bassy sound around 3k rpm, amazing when boosted.

3)blitz nur spec -r, overated. Lots of video on youtube, once u try kakimoto n1/bee-r u won't look at blitz nur.

4)5zigen border iii - its a damn quiet s-flow exhaust. Never got a problem with the cops. I would rate this slightly nicer and better than the nismo ne-1.

In terms of best sounding i cant go past the exhuast that came with my car from japan straight 3.5 inch with just a cannon and no cat with cans sounds so mean like a rb shpuld. When i had the regu 06 it sounded like a bitch so dissapointing then i took out the restrictor better but still not that mean deep note espcially at high revs so im back to my notmal exhust which probably idles over 90 db.

    • The 1000ccs are side feeds but they're not currently installed, had my old factory ones in for leak testing purposes, only decided on them because front facing plenums and good top feed rail kits are out of my budget at the moment, are they really that problematic? Had a set of yellow jackets that lasted me 5 years, no real issues, only replaced them chasing this misfire issue that ended up not being ignition related 😄
    • Are those 1000cc side feeds? If so, that's part of your problem. I have 1480cc and they idle at stoich on 98RON, and all the way to E85. Also your coil packs.....
    • Update for the sake of closure   Ended up getting the intercooler piping all sorted, new plugs and yellow jacket coils, and she was idling mint until it warmed up while I was bleeding the cooling system. Found the misfire to be localised to cyl 3 by unplugging coilpacks, ran a compression test, that checked out, then decided to get a mate to check if that spark plug was firing out of the motor. Upon cranking it over, with the injectors disconnected, the car actually fired and ran on a couple cylinders and heaps of fuel came out the top of cyl 3 I'd say that injector's either spraying incorrectly or spraying far too much, which is fine as I'm planning on replacing them anyway I'm planning on making about 250kW on flex fuel, and have a set of 1000cc injectors from ozautosport, obviously overkill but I'm planning on building the motor and running more boost further down the line, do you reckon they'd be too big for a smooth idle on 98? Thanks for the replies gents, much appreciated
    • I'm confused. You said you want to "remove the clear coat from most panels" but it sounds like you are actually doing a full respray? Few random things to add -  If you chase the blistered paint with 120 grit, I can almost guarantee you'll chase it down to bare metal (that's fine). But if you paint the car from here, you'll have nice little indents where ever the blistered paint was. The new paint won't magically level out the low areas, you need to fill them. Which leads me to the main point I wanted to add, make sure the whole car is flat before you paint it. All those areas with blistered paint you sanded out, make sure to fill them and triple check they are flat with a block guide coat. I'd also check the whole car is flat with a large block and guide coat but yeah up to you if you want to go that far.
