Sometimes when I let one rip, its really loud, people stop and look. Want details on the noise?

No, you probably dont.

But we'll need more info on what this noise is to help you

Forgot to mention it's a 1994 GTR32.

I cant really describe the sound, but it's screeching to the ears and it's not like the normal/usual belt slipping sound that you get. Probably a mix of screech and grinding sound. It happens once I turn on the A/C. Stationary, on the move, on cold start up, when the car is warmed up - Same noise. I'm sure it's the A/C. But dont know what. The belt appears to be running too.

I havent tried if there's aircon blowing out cos the sound is so loud, once I hear it, I would turn off the A/C immediately.

If the A/C is not on, the fan blows out cold air or hot air depending on the temperature I set it to be.

it is either your compressor clutch/pulley/bearings or the idler pulley making noise....

or simply a loose belt....

iv done a few belt tensioners especially wen ppl remove the splash tray and water gets into the bottom idler pulley....

if u leave it too long, it will go bang!

Bang sounds scary. Is the compressor clutch part of the A/C compressor? Anyone that I can bring my car to get it looked at? I'm totally new to this. Just got the car not long ago.

Cheers,

It's your alternator belt. I had the exact same problem. Tighten it to factory specs :starwars:

It caused the the massive drain on the electrical system.

Thanks!

I guess I will get all my belts checked then. They're supposed to be new. So i guess when I turn on the A/C, the extra load is causing some belt problem to the alternator? i.e. the alternator is working much harder now?

i had this problem, as soon as the a/c was on a noise like the engine was about to explode happened lol,

got my friends dad to come have a look, he gave me a number for an air con guy, came out to me n turns out my

compressor (barings to be exact, no lube, therefore loud noise like metal crunching when it was turned on) had shit its self due to a number of reasons. so had to get a new one put in, along with some bs valve n a regas
