That costs too much in the short term, but would otherwise be the intelligent and long-sighted approach now wouldn't it :(

To be honest, people winge and winge for tax cuts, but i'd rather be paying a few extra bucks of tax rather than have to put up with this crap.

I think if the people of melbourne were actualy seeing a result in all these fees then it might quench some of the fury but I think a lot of it is uesd where we dont so much see it eg. hospitals etc. Still with the amount of money they are making off EVERYTHING I'm sure the quality of our roads could be a LOT better. A perfect example is the Ansett ticket levy! What a crock of sh*t, none of the workers have even seen that money! Yeah good one Bracks! ahh done. lol.

not only are the tolerances reduced, but the penalties are increased. for example, i was done for 92km/h in an 80 zone on lysterfield road. fair enough i deserved a ticket, but THREE DEMERIT POINTS wtf?! the fine was $200, which i also think is a little excessive, but its the demerit points that really piss me off. I've had my license 4 months and i'm already a quarter of the way to losing it :(

Yes the excess speed ranges have changed - thought you all would've known this.

Old:

1pt 3-15km $110 or so

3pt 16-30km $160 or so

6pt 31-45km $240 or so + suspension for 3 months

6pt 46-60km $360 or so + suspension for 6 months

etc

New

Speed Less than 10 KM/H $125.00 1 Demerit Point

*** Note LESS THAN 10KM that means 1KM/H!!!!***

Speed by 10 KM/H or more but Less than 25 KM/H $200.00 3 Demerit Points

Speed by 25 KM/H or more but Less than 35 KM/H $265.00 4 Demerit Points Plus 1 Month Licence Suspension

Speed by 35 KM/H or more but Less than 45 KM/H $360.00 6 Demerit Points Plus 6 Month Licence Suspension

Speed by 45 KM/H or more $430.00 8 Demerit Points Plus 12 Month Licence Suspension

Factory speedometers are always inaccurate in favour of a higher measured speed. ie speedo =100, you're probably doing 94 or so. But you'll never be doing 100+ As such the governent has decided that speedos are now accurate enough. The old 3km/h or 3% leniance is no more!

You will not lose any points off your SA licence. All you need to do is pay the fine. The points will be recorded at Vic Roads for three years in the chance that you may move to Victoria.

    • I'm normally copping my own abuse from neglecting my daily drivers. "Those suspension bushes will last a bit more", "Don't worry about the oil leak, just keep topping it up". The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
    • The best part is when you own the car long enough that you look back and find your OWN ham fisted amateur shit!
    • The annoying part about neglect, is when you start to replace one thing, and find ten more broken things. Ham fisted monkey repairs you normally only find out about when trying to do something unrelated! Ha ha   Neglect you can kind of anticipate the huge costs to fix it all. Ham fistedness is normally a shock the first time your work on a new old car, as everything "looked" good before.
