That's why I want the ones that are easily removed by the special removal tool (which only cops/manufacturers have access to apparently), like the ones the cops were giving out for free last year.

Pm me for the simple answer to removing the 'theft proof screws'.

The easiest is the Torx bits....cheap to pick up, Easy to remove, but you need Torx bit/driver/key set, and it's about $50 for them.

Failing that if you don't mind using nuts and bolts would be using cup head bolts....

Exhibit A (Not to size, obviously)

My memory may be wrong but i believe i paid about $20 for my kinchrome set, just the bits you use then with a 3/8 ratchet.

so now you can see even with theft tamper proof, any thugs out there planning on robbing some convenient store or bank would see even $50 investment in torx key as a very worthy investment....

that said, nothing, not even theft proof bolts will save number plates from being stolen

At the end of the day though it is just a deterrent, if you have personalized plates that some one really wants there going to get them, but in the case of some one who just wants plates for a drive off or robbery the next car up the road is going to have normal screws so they will just move along.

The one way screws are available from REPCO stores for about $5 for a pack.

The pack contains different sized self taping screws and also threaded screws (6 or 8mm, cant rember).

They can be removed fairly easy, but would slow someone down enought to think twice about your plates, unless they realy want them (nothing will save your plates then).

You know what works for me? 1 inch stainless steel pop rivets. quick simple to install and good luck trying to drill them out.

^^^Now that's a great idea!!!

Ad some of this, P_SelleysLiquidNailsHighStrength.jpg and those plates aren't going anywhere. :P
