hey guys,

picked up a nice new r34 yesterday after a long month or so without a car :)

great car to drive, however... there is one little annoying problem with the car.

alignment seems to be out as it pulls to the left badly 95% of the time. it also produces a whirring sound.

kinda like "whir whirr whirr whirr" speeding up and slowing down as road speed changes.

i assumed this would be an alignment problem. so i took the car to beaurepairs to have an alignment done (i know beaurepairs arent great but they were close to my work to try and get the problem sorted)

got the car back absolutly no change in the steering feel or noises.

other things to note are car had new lower control arms and ball joints fitted yesterday by nizzpro. also it appears as though must of the important front bushes have been replaced. (they are red so would assume pedders?)

any advice on this?

is it an alignment thing? or perhaps the wheel gone out of balance?

there is some camber wear on the inside of the tyre - could this be causing it?

anythings possible, there is gutter rash on the drivers side rims (front and rear) i think, cant really remember which side haha

tyres were running 32psi pumped them up to 40psi and it made it a little more bearable. its more of a background noise now which makes me think the tyres are at fault. even the steering feels a little straighter. i'll go up to 44 psi or something and see if it improves again. if it does new tyres maybe.

if it was a bearing issue wouldn't the noise be apparent at all times?

its mainly like 50-80kmph

it's a gt-t. reason for new control arms is apparently the ball joints were worn according to the roadworthy guy. and wouldnt pass without them being fixed.

so previous owner had nizzpro install new lower arms including ball joints before i bought it. they mentioned they werent that bad though. so yeah

shame this is the only problem with the car. but its freaking annoying. have to turn the stereo up to drown it out haha

yeah its definatly tyres.

pulled the ones off of my old r33 and tried them on the front. pulling to the left is pretty much all gone.

and its quiet as. so off to the shop to get some new tyres fitted on tuesday. yay!

    • First time visitor and currently getting ready to start work on my HK Premier.  Its all stock, 186 with 3 on the tree.  The only mod i have right now is extractors.  I am hoping to get some guidance on slightly modifying the engine to bring a little more power. Just going for a nice, comfortable cruiser.  The car is very straight, however i have been out of the country for 20 years and its been gathering dust at a family farm.  Will be doing quite a bit of body work to cut out some small rust areas (frnt quarter panels and a few other small bits) and fix up the paint.  Will be redoing the interior (its currently black and the seats are in real need of recovering and respringing the driver side (its front bench seat).  The dash needs a little TLC, but no real damage.  As my heater has degraded I am considering fitting something after-market that will be both heater/AC (recommendations here are always welcome). Wanting something discrete that will allow me to use the same controls and not be obvious once inside the car.   For the engine, i have been told i could consider upgrading my cam (imagine i would need a new head as well) and putting a new carby (currently the original stromberg).  However not sure what is going to be the best route.  Would certainly welcome any comments/suggestions.  As  a final step I am looking at changing the wheels. Current hubcaps are in dire need of refurbishment or replacement (imagine its a bit like hens teeth).  Thinking of some clean/classic looking mags (7-inch should be more than enough - not going for a large change in look).  Welcome any comments/advice and of course any questions.
    • I got the ARC M079 due to the space constraint.  Been running mint for the last 3 years.  Plazmaman also seems like a really solid choice but not used myself.    Hunt around for a better price but this is what I have - https://www.rhdjapan.com/arc-brazing-intercooler-smic-m079-bnr32.html
    • Wanted to follow up on this. Did you end up getting the M073? Still deciding on what to get between nismo m073-79 and plazaman.
    • I was just watching these boys up in QLD AWD'ing their S13 too.
