team them up with an RB26 crank and bobs your uncle

That's it - I think.

BTW - That price for HKS Rods is pretty good ! And as I re-call a brand new RB26 crankshaft is like $900 from Nissan - That would make a pretty cheap 2.6L bottom end.

If I wasn't down the track on my re-build I would have snaffled them up. (if in good nick of course)

rns11z unless you are currently making more than 300rwkw you dont need to change teh conrods as iam using the factory ones and using it for racing purposes and still havent had a rod failure and going on what i have seen i am nit going to change it either. It is only a ploy buy the manufacturers to tell you that they cant handle it so that you spend unneccesary money on stuff that you dont need so that you can tell the boys at the pub.

This is just my experience, and I state up front that I am no expert:

When I rang Eagle I asked them this exact question - Eagle do make rods for RB26 - So when I called them and told them I wanted to buy Eagle rods for my RB25 - They told me that they don't make them yet. But they would soon !

I really don't get this....

Sydneykid says that RB25 rods can be ordered but you must quote the dimenstions and specs of the rods and not ask for RB25DET rods. This is meant to be because there are OEM agreements etc in place and as part of this agreement the vendors can't market parts as RB25 spec. So if this is so, where can I buy RB25 forged rods ? Carillo, Argo, Tomei, (all very expensive - much more expensive than Eagle Rods for Rb26) See the problem ??

I also asked the Eagle guys if they made a conrod for another vehicle which is the exact size and dimension as the RB25 ones - And they said no.

So does that mean that the extra 100 ccs for the 26 comes only from the crank differences ??

From all the engine builders I've been talking to - none of them have suggested that the 26 rods can be used in a 25 -

Seems weird - not that I am doubting you Steve-SST. I wouldn't have a clue - So I go by what others tell me and am just relating my experiences to date.

Maybe I wasted my money shot peening and cryo-tempering my std rb25 rods when I could have ordered Eagle rb26 rods ??

But I wasn't going to pay $3000-$4000 for Carillo or Argo rods - although they are very well engineered.

ARP don't make bolts for RB25DET

I used the standard RB25 rods in my rebuild, but be aware there are at least 2 types. The weaker of the 2 ive seen has a small lump on one side of the rod shaft about 2cm below where it connect to the piston. This type is very weak, the other looks exactly the same as the RB26 rod. These are the ones i used which I shot peened and linished. My engine is built to support 550hp all day- just food for thought for

As far as the rod bolts, yes ARP don't make them for the RB25, I used ARP for the SR20, works just fine :D

Good luck with your re-build

Eagle have no rods for any RB but we have sent an RB rod over and they will be on the market soon.

All RB 25-26 rods are the same but some RB 25s have weaker rods but a lot have GTR rods, the motor with weak rods has a few other things that make them the dog of the family.

Rb26s have a longer stroke but the rod is the same size as the 25

the piston on the 26 is shorter, Fact. I garranty this is true as we do a lot of Skylines.

Crower have rods for RB25-26s out now.

Steve, so what you are saying is that I can use Rb26 pistons on my RB25 rods and I get an extra 100cc ??

Are the cranks the same ?? I thought not.

Wish I had known that before I put the ARIAS RB25 pistons in !

Damn.....
