Fast & Furious Skyline Stolen From Hollywood Garage

Found this funny, though I'd share

Fast & Furious Skyline stolen from Hollywood garage May 17th 2009 at 1:44PM

It took two years to build it in reality, ten seconds of montage to put it together on screen, and about ten minutes to steal it. In a rare automotive example of life imitating art imitating life, the Nissan Skyline that Paul Walker drove in the latest Fast & Furious movie was stolen from its storage facility in Los Angeles.

Although dressed up to look like a full-on R34 GT-R for the movie, the car underneath was actually a lower-spec GT-S. Reports indicate that thieves, evidently knowing the car was inside, broke through a metal door and ripped off that specific car, leaving the rest but sideswiping a Studebaker and a Porsche Boxster on the way out. And to make matters worse, the car, valued at around $75,000, wasn't even insured. Considering the movie grossed $72.5 million in opening-weekend box office sales alone, we doubt the seventy-five grand will be terribly missed.

GT-S ??? is that what we call the GT-T but n/a equiv ER34

i the movie its clear and obvious BNR34 dash cluster with 4wd and a-lsd lights in fail mode

so its an ER34 rear wheel drive with BNR34 kit for action shots etc, but interior is BNR34 with left hand drive and hacked 4wd and a-lsd

i just cant understant how it was woth $75,000? and i remember seeing the movie on the big screen and hated every second of it just wanted to slap the director in the face with my .....

and how dumb would you feel stealing a fake gtr haha

Yea the obvious reason why they are so cheap and popular here is because japan and australia drive on the same side when I lived in NY an R33 GTST would prob cost about $25g's US unconverted

75k USD for a R34 GT-T modded to look like an R34 GTR. Why don't you just friggin buy an R34 GTR? Seriously... I can't imagine a secondhand R34 GTR costing more than a Viper (approx 75k), including say 10-20k for a LHD conversion.

if doggy look alike r34 gtr's are worth $75k us dolla might start exporting them by the boat load lol

just watch the movie you can tell there not to bright lol maybe thats why paul and vin didnt make it to aus because they realized where not that stupid over here down under.

Damn it would make it easier if all cars were RHD and all units in metric. UK, Japan, Australia, India, SE Asia all drive on the correct side. Doesn't it make sense to do the most skill-requiring procedure (steering) with your dominant hand and the less skill-requiring ones (shifting, turning up the music, eating, touching girls) with the non-dominant hand?

It's the USA's fault. If they go RHD, the rest of the undeveloped world will follow. Then, hey, great savings for auto makers and consumers everywhere in the world. :)

world's most expensive GT (seeing as there's no such thing as an R34 GTS).

Lol, yeah, just realised in the pic as well that it's an unconverted RHD R34 GT. Sh!t that skyline exporting business is looking mighty attractive right now Travis :)

The 1.7mm hole is nearly 3x the area of a 1mm hole. You do not need restrictors at both ends of the oil supply line. If you have new, additional restrictors at the turbo end, that you did not have before, then you do not need a restrictor at the inlet end.
    • Hi all. Been a while but things are moving along. I just have something that I am wondering about. Since I will use OEM turbo oil pumbing, I got myself a new bolt, the one that goes into the engine block oil feed. As I recall (and see visually) this bolt comes restricted with I think a 1.7mm hole? Not quite sure but it was something around that size. The turbos have 1mm restrictor bolts installed, as necessary due to ball bearings and my higher oil pressures. Can I now just use that OEM bolt with the 1.7mm hole in for the engine block or will this actually be too much oil flow restriction and I have to drill it out first? In my head it would make sense for the bolt to be at least 2mm wide as both turbos take "1mm of oil flow". Do let me know if my logic is flawed here, I just want to make sure I don't kill my turbo bearings with too little oil. Don't know if I can trust the saying I read somewhere that ball bearing turbos essentially only need an oil mist

    • Yeah based on old XRC5964S specs, it looks to be roughly GTX3576R sized? But this 5964S compressor will flow 90lb airflow somewhat similar to the compressors in both the GTX3584RS or G35-1050.. I fully expected the 0.64 rear A/R to choke up top - seems way too small from typical convention - but these are seemingly beneficial over the prior 0.82 results.. Be interesting to see if he comments on the EFR question in that thread - he mentioned in a prior video that BW EFR's were the "cats pajamas 10 years ago", but by the sounds of things all his kits have been using Xona for quite a while now.
    • Yeah it’s still got the oem manual gearbox and clutch, only kinda mods are a blow off valve, coil overs, and a aftermarket intercooler. Also had it for about 2 months now with a lovely midnight purple paint on it.
