Hi guys,

Just thought i would put it out there.

as the title says, PIARC sprints are coming up. im trying my hardest to get to this one.

ive never actually been to a PIARC event before (though i have been on the island circuit), and im just wondering if anyone here has? is the event well run? also one of the bigger things for me is, do the allow passangers out on the saturday familiarisation run?

any ideas on this would be most appreciated.

here is the link for the supp regs and entry form for those interested.

thanks guys,

Matty.

I go to a lot of these days and they are generally very popular. You get all sorts of cars turning up, so the groupings can be a bit ordinary as you sometimes end up with 24 cars on track with lap times varying by 10-15 seconds. Either way it's always around 24 cars on track so it's a lot of fun carving through a field.

Passeneger runs are not normally allowed unless you go out on the morning circuit familiarisation session, which is for people who haven't seen the track before.

The days are well run with plenty of officials to go around so you are not at risk of being asked to flag etc. like an Alfa day. Also there is no timing on the Saturday.

Depending on who enters for the haunted hills WRX day, I should be down there on the Sunday.

Matty, I am a PIARC member and have done 4 or 5 events now at PI. Not bad but not as sharply run as WRX/SUA event. I went to Winton in July (my first WRX.SAU event) and got to say it was very well run (except for trophy pres at the driver's briefing WTF???).

As per previous comments, PIARC groupings can be a bit ordinary. Example - I was blasting past my mate in an Elfin (me 220, him 190), focussed on giving him plenty of room on man straight when some hero in an ex V8 Supercar blasted past me at 250+ three abreast, one wheel almost off the track. Massive difference in lap times is dangerous, didn't see him coming.

Having said that, I keep going back for Saturdays because you get a heap of 15 - 20 min sessions, rooted by the end of the day. I have my own GPS lap timer so lack of timed sprints is no drawback and I prefer the less serious attitude and extra track time. Quite a few leave early on Sat so late in the day, sometimes you get open pit lane, go out as much as you like. Awesome.

Last time there my brother and I shared the car and did 60+ laps in the day. Not good for the wallet but great fun.

Cheers.
