Corners... I Love Em.

Last night I drove from Newcastle to Terrigal for the night and used my girlfriends GPS to get me there. It took me on a strange route that i had not driven on before. But the delight was finding a sweet lil bit of road just as you get off the pacific hwy at Lisarow. It goes from Mcdonalds rd through to wattle tree road.

This was the first time I have really been able to show the stagea some corners and it loved it. It did get a little bit of understeer through the off camber corners, but on the whole I am suprised with how well the old boat did.

When I got to the end I was dissapointed it was over so i went back and did it again.

Nice one Scott, I might have to explore that when I next head North towards Newie. You should come down to the Central Coast meetings on Thursday nights, I'm there just about every week.

BTW, you should also get yourself to the "Texikhana" on August 29th so you can really see how your car will the handle tight-and-twisty stuff (and other courses) we'll be setting up on the day!

You have to love the Ridgeway, I don't think i've taken the Stagea along that way yet but I used to work my motorbikes pretty hard through there.

Suzuki GSF250 Bandit, Suzuki SV650S loved the road, I havn't put the Suzuki GSX750F through there yet now I think about it. The road is starting to deteroriate so it's nowhere near as good as it was a few years back.

The map of my house is crap and doesn't show the bends but I love my drive home. Up the mountain range so I get lovely corners every time I take the car out... That is unless I get some twat going 20-30 below the speed limit the entire time.

+1 for stagea handling!! Most people expect wagons to be just boring shopping carts, designed to do the basics and just fit lots in.

But I think we can all agree the stagea is sooo much more than that. Its built to go fast, handle well, and do all of the above. It can do the boring stuff and still be fun to drive at the same time.

Everyone who has driven my car (and even lots of people who have been a passenger in the car) has commented on how well it handles, not to mention the performance. I know its not going to break any records in either category but for a wagon it goes hard!

It can handle the twisties and if you're ever lucky enough to do an interstate drive or two, you'll really love how it handles the open road. Overtaking is a walk in the park (in my old s2 stagea with 160awkw incl GT30 turbo, when i was passenger - i kind of had to hold onto the seat when i had it laid back trying to sleep...to stop sliding up the seat - lol!).

Was thinking about this thread as I went down The Commenarra Parkway (at Warp 5) at 7AM this morning......even got to put a Legnum to shame.....for a 2 tonne fat cow they sure do hang on.

Indeed... but trying to stay still while sitting on the M35's leather seats in another story!

For those of us in Victoria, here is one of my favourite roads to drive (not much traffic either).

It is quite a bit east of Melbourne, but worth it (you will know fear on a couple of corners if headed north from Korumburra - guaranteed )

You can also turn left at Ranceby for a more "sweeping" run, but it is just frustrating after Athlone (lots of straight and lost of speed limit)

He had a grand old time looking out the window...

Indeed... but trying to stay still while sitting on the M35's leather seats in another story!

Indeed. The first time I drove it was in the Reece 1-tonner (no suspension + skinny wheels). Slightly misty. All good fun, with the exception being one blind, off-camber 90 degree corner which only has an old semi-guard rail to "stop" you from falling the 200m straight down... It was all fine until I hit the corrugations on that damn corner which made the whole ute jump left towards the rail!

Thrilling sh*t... Never will be forgotten.
