Hello guys,

I'm new to Skylines here and I have decided to take this path and buy a Skyline as my first car here in Australia.

I've been checking out the Skylines and I havent decided which one to get, I'm wondering whats the difference between a 1996 R33 GTS-T series II and a R34 GTT, they both have the same engine and its turbo.

I'm looking for performance here and I'd love to get a descent Skyline with a good potential.

thanks folks

Welcome :)

R33s are very cheap these days but finding a decent one is getting harder, however there are some good bargains if you look around.

The 34s have are also coming down in price (i have a mate selling a very clean one)

R34s have a bit more power than the 33s

R34 engines also have solid lifters and rods like the RB26.

At the end of the day it comes down to cost.

A good 34 will be between 19-25k

R33 between 14-17k

Happy hunting!

They don't have the same engine. 34's have the Neo version of the engine. Which is newer & more powerful and have more torque down low.

Nissian's spec says the R33's Rb25det has 187kw & 294Nm of torque, while the R34's Rb25det Neo approaches the Jap limit of 206kw & 343Nm of torque.

If you have the $, always get the newer model, that is the R34.

Thank you NYTSKY and Mayuri Krab for the replies.

I found a 1996 R33 which costs $9200 and it has done 125k.

I also found a 1998 R34 which has done 107k costing $13500.

The R33 is a coupe but the R34 isn't, I'm really looking for a coupe cuz i think it looks better.

Is the R34 an auto? Price seems cheap for a 34. The manual ones I see around here (WA) are still going for $15k+.

Whats your max budget? Thats gonna be the biggest deciding factor.

Also do you have links to the ads? So we can have a look.

Mayuri Krab,

yes I forgot to mention they're both auto cuz I never had a manual car, so yeah am looking for an auto pretty much.

For my first car here I can pay plus or minus $12k.

heres an ad for the car im interested in atm.

MSTRshenanigans goof for you man :)

I was just checking out tradecarview.com and they've got nice cars for very good prices. The Nissan Skylines are much cheaper than and they've done very low k's. I'm not sure about their condition though. I'm thinking about getting my Skyline from there.
