Catch Cans?

hay all ive jus recently purchased a series 1 skyline afta becoming addicted to them by mates havin them and love it:) jus wondering about oil catch cans and if they serve ne benifits at all to the cars mechanical life?? and if they are legal or illegal because i hav heard diferent stories about them bein a defectable mod??? ne info on them would be much appreciated:)

If the catch can is vented to atmosphere its deemed illegal, however if it's plumbed back into the intake its legal.
