Hey Guys...

I was just wondering what you guys did to obtain drifting sponsorship with your own cars and what sort of cost and such is covered..

The reason I ask is that I have a really great package that has been purchased for really track only but can be street driven and am now finally able to go out to the track and start competing. Also if any workshop/people are interested in talking to me then I would be more than willing to chat and work out a sponsor deal...

Cheers

Have you actually done any drift comps? drift days dont count.

I doubt any workshop / Company would be willing to put their name to a car / driver who is a complete unknown.

Once you have done a few competitions and finshed well and the car looks the goods then start worrying about sponsors.

I hope you dont expect them to be giving you stuff for free / paying you to have their stickers on your car.

At best you might get a half decent discount on some stuff.

Having help write a few and have been fortunate/unfortunate enough to read quite a few; you’re going to need to put at least have an effort in.

The good ones are treated like a thesis, for lack of a better word.

Why should a person/company/business sponsor you? What can you offer them? What do you expect from them in return.

Mine have always included a breakdown of what events I intend on doing, the type of people who go, how many people approx attend etc.

My last one went as far as braking down the cost’s for the sponsor at each event.

I want $XYZpa divided by how many events/ event costings = roughly what the sponsor is paying for each round.

The few really good proposals I’ve read have all been set out all explaining what they want, what they will give in return a bio on the driver and car, his or hers credentials, photo’s of the car etc. One even had a dvd included of the drivers “drift” ability that was taken at a couple of practice days.

Nothing is for nothing, make it professional.

Thanks for the helpful reply Nismo Kid. Do you happen to have a sample of a good one and also a not so good one so I can get a good Idea of what a professional proposal would look like? I am really looking to get into this finally and I guess the more help to know what I need to say and do would be great

just throwing it out there but if you want bris sponsorship your competeing with alot of good drivers. brisbane has the most drift days out of any state. you got archerfield which has weekly prac and queensland raceway with fortnightly prac not to mention the many raceline events. u have alot of proving to do if you want sponsorship. get on secretdrift its a predominatly queensland based website but its all drift chat if you have not been on there yet.

if you're getting keen on drifting mate secretdrift is a must!

and i also must agree that qld has quite a few pretty wicked drifters, you just have to check out qr or achy to see the depth in talent
