Good to hear that someone is willing to make a bit of a stand on this, as its becoming a bit of a joke

Did you konw that cops have a book about defectable stuff for cars, and it has a whole scection on imported cars, what to look for, stock ride heights etc. It even tells the cops to look in the ashtray and on the strut tower area for boost controllers and turbo timers, what a bov is and looks like, stock front and rear track widths - everything!!!

Also, me and a few mates were having a chat with Martin Donnon at this years Autosalon, it was just after James from D1 had his car defected by mail after appearing in HPI, he told us that there is a traffic cop that has recentley moved from WA to here, and used to be into Skylines, and being a traffic cop he was pulling people over and lifting the bonnet stuff and defecting the really detailed stuff - like he'd see a Z32 AFM, and then pull out the kick panel to find your PowerFC, defect you for that, then look for boost controllers, adjustable suspension parts, adjustable castor rods - everything he could he'd defect people for - a real defect Nazi!!

But it would be great if we could get some real action about this, I hope you stick with it Steve

agreed with everythin thats been mentioned on the post...the cops are becoming quite out of control with there little yellow power stickers. the number of cars that im seein with them is stupid. and for those sad little men at regency....well words cant explain... all i can think of is....hmmm.. they can afford nice cars like us . ive experienced the beast that is regency 2 yrs ago.. cop defected me 4 noise...got there and they went over the whole car as alot of u would know. all components that were legal i got defected for...eg tyrod ends, bushes, these were all in mint cond as my old man had done all the drive line for me...rediclious

Its only going to get worse.

The R32/R33's are damn cheap now, affordable by people in their teens.

And lets face it. The majority of teens/early 20's fly around, some a little some a lot.

It reflects badly against all of us.

Take the car down Mallala or do it where no one see's. Keep it out of the public eye, no peak hour on the way home or on the way to work crazyness.

Mate of mine got a canary on friday night.......was pulling out of Shell servo in Blackwood(stationary i might add) when a cop drives past, stopped and pointed to the curb. Tis a brown Cefiro full kit, diff, coilovers, 33 GTR wheels etc etc, Car is for sale, sorry was for sale and had guys checking it out on the Sat after, He is very disapointed!

Guys the inspectors at regency no shit all about jap cars there are only 1 or 2 that have an idea! if you ever get defected when you go in there make sure they get all the complaints they need on the first go thats obviously if they dont pass you!!! Ive been there more than once and they try to get you to re check more than once they find a new problem everytime!!! ITS ALL REVENUE FOR THEM!

I have had to put my car through regency a few months ago in my A31 Ceff. I got defected for too low and atmo BOV. I actually got through first time even though my car was not quite spot on (illegal steering wheel, 1988 worn out suspension bushes and unsecured battery). Still the regency inspector let me off with a formal written warning. Strange as my car has a fibreglass body kit, i still had my 3 inch exaust (its quiet) and split dump pipe, Pod filter (secured) and FMIC.

the inspector i had was quite young and really knew his stuff about imports, he even told me he is going to buy a turbo silvia or AE86 himself

He aslo informed me that he would personally pass cars with coil over suspension if they were at STD ride height, in good condition and were a good brand, TIEN, JIC, HKS, Koni ect.

well last weekend i was picked on by the cops again. received a defect for the same car within 2 months. this time it was a blown parker - like wdf give me a friggn break. reason for the cop pulling me over was that it was raining not long ago and your visibility would be affect hence you get a defect.

When I used to hoon around a little and had the odd speeding fine I was constantly pulled over, random breath test, where are you heading tonight sir & once defected. I was once pulled over for apparently no brake lights, pulled over had brake lights, lol, my guess it was the way I drove, i.e cruising using the gears to slow for roundabouts.

This was a good 8yrs or so ago, Now its worse with their big computer screens, dial in your number plate see all your speeding fines and what breeeewww pull over sir.

Ive had a bit of attention since my defect experience. I seem to hav the cops randomly follow me. Like randomly follow me home from army on a tuesday nite (from warradale to seaview downs) and not pull me over. Like they'll be driving one way and physically turn around after seeing me take off normally and follow every move i make. Admittedly since changing number plates ive had less attention. Still get asked about whether my car runs LPG or not...............as ive finally had my tank taken out (afta not having used it for 12 months) and still having the filler cap on the bodywork (which i cant remove till i can afford a respray cos its going to need welding up and filler. However i spose it depends how ya drive. If ya drive sensibly and get pulled for miniscule shit then its harrasment. My headlight occasionaly goes on and off......requires a love tap to make it work........been queried a few times about it and i just "tap" it and it works again. they're cool about stuff like that. Cars aint perfect. Just wish they'd pick on the shitheaps more than the modded cars

i get followed alot by cops 2...u can tell its a cop cos they speed up right behind u and sit on ur ass...2 check ur speed and also 2 try get u 2 do somthing wrong...

i also enjoy pulling up next 2 a cop at the lights and then giving them a nod then when lights go green, pretend ur not in gear so they go first...usually they wait 4 u, lol...

yeah joel i know. i swear they have all defect plates on record. nah darren, in my parents work car which is just as bad - especially if they knew. to prove my point bout it being on record, my sister took out the car a few days ago and she goes to me, i dont know why but a cop car followed me for a while (same turns offs etc etc) and then just went on its on way. i didnt say a word.

What happened last night was so lame. I was taking my missus home at about 12:45am. I was at the lights waiting for it to turn green to turn onto torrens rd. Anyways, hardly any cars were on the rd at this time and i see this cop car flying me (about to go pass) with its lights flashing but no sirens then he sees me waiting at the lights. He slows down completely and im just sitting there going wdf does he want. Lights I was waiting for goes green and he pursue's to follow me then flashes his lights and all that bs. Cop goes 'there has been some cigarettes stolen from a shop, would you please open you boot' but he then goes 'you dont have to thought', WDF? Anyways, I do then he checks my back seats then goes 'ok thanks or some shit along those lines'. As he goes to his car, a supra was going in the opposite direction and Im not shitting you, he did an illegal u-turn and cained it after the poor import. What a wanker for pulling me over for no good reason.

ps. I was driving my aunties stock as a rock s13 silvia. I was targeted for sure. And sure would have been that supra.

Sure it would be inconvinient, but at the end of the day he had a look, didnt give you a hard time and you were on your way.

I am guessing there was a reported breakin and someone gave a description that made them think of an import (ie big exhauts, noisy, sporty etc)

If he wanted to be a jerk he would have had u pop the bonnet, and gone looking for things to defect you, which it sounds like this guy didnt do.

As I said it was a bit inconvinient but at the end of the day noone was hurt so I wouldnt complain too loudly.

Man i must be lucky compared to you guys. Ive had my 32 for 3 or so years and ive been pulled over twice but never defected even though my car is a rolling defect machine.

First time the cop didnt even look at the car just gave me a fine for not wearing my seat belt, he called my fmic a radiator hehe. Second time they made me pop the bonnet but were only looking for after market bovs. They didnt even care about my large unsecured pod, boost controller, safc etc, they let me go.

The best one was when i had to go out to greenock to do a job, i usually drive my daihatsu for work but i took the line for this one. I was doing about 160 on the freeway as i was running late and i cant help myself on the freeway, i looked in my rear vision mirror to see a cop car with its sirens on behind me, i thought i was f**ked. A modded skyline doing 50 ks over the limit but as i slowed down they shot past. Man i was so releived, they must have been going to a murder or something not to pull me over.

haha i had cops look under my bonnet n ask if i had a turbo timer...do u think id answer with yes? they had no idea if the car even had an engine

Sure it would be inconvinient, but at the end of the day he had a look, didnt give you a hard time and you were on your way.
