ive just blocked off my stock bov, NOT for the hektik flutterz yo but so i can use the gasket to trace out an adapter plate to mount a bov on my intercooler piping when i put that in.

so im gna be driving the car round like this for a few days, is it normal to get a rough idle with the bov blocked? and is it normal for my car to sound like a rex and feel really rough until about 2.5-3k rpm?

You blocked off the return pipe from the BOV back to the intake right?

And as if it's not for hektik flutterz. You could just remove the gasket, trace it, and put it back on. But you have chosen to drive it around for a 'few days' like this. I'm calling you out as a ricer!

do u mean that smallish hose from the top of the bov to the side of the plenum? coz no i havnt touched that, all ive done is put a solid gasket between the bov and mount.

Thats part of your problem your problem, but he is talking about the Bov re-circ hose that goes down to the intake pipe.

i blocked off that top hose didnt really do much, the other hose was in a too tight position to block off. its onli gna be like this for a day so shud be alright

No, it'll foul the spark plugs.

There are two hoses. One large one (approx 1 inch diameter) that goes back in front of the turbo, and the vacuum hose that went to the top of the valve. You need to block both

thanks for the heads up :) i just ended up tracing the original gasket onto some cardboard on putting it back in, less hassles

also noticed a coilpack plug was disconected but it may have happened after wen i was fiddling round with the bov. the car did sound tuff hahaah but definatly didnt sound normal

i am running a blocked off stock BOV and never had a problem at all.....al the hoses are still connected and in place as they were before.....all i did was put a metal plate in between the BOV and the mount.....flutters nicely and no problems.....mind you dont get any flutter when it hits 12psi only on low boost it will flutter

um.... why would you want to move the bov? the stock bov is in the ideal location. nice and close to the throttle body.

Yer i would of thought that. Using the stock posstion is good. You will need the plum back pipe from the bov to the intake in front of the turbo other wise yes it will run like a dog.

Ive tried this trick once before on my old RB20 and it didnt like it at all. Hooked the bov back up with plum back pipe, all good again.

I would stay with the origanal bov or do a search on ebay for a aftermarket one with plumback support.

bov was the old rice now flutter.. hmm

Sigh@flutters, its the most annoying noise on the planet, specialy wene u see a nice skyline or any car realy and the accelorate near u and make that gay noise - fail

no actually it's more embarresing when my bov goes and everyone turns around and looks at u and says rice.

You would have solved your problem when you reconnected the coil pack as you car would have been running on 5 cylinders and misfiring.

The WRX sound of a skyline usually points to coilpacks or plugs as it is a misfiring sound.
