Well according to his signature, he's getting 10.4s quarters on stock internals. How I dunno :( But I would imagine that he's dicing with death even at that. Unless you put the engine on a motorcycle or something I would say that 9s quarters are impossible on stock internals, even for an RB26.

Well hicks, have done a 10.5 @ 127mph with 100% stock bits and we detuned it to get traction to do that. Just wondering if anyone else was doing simila thats all. Should pull a 9 when run on a prepped track and with the car stripped. When we did the 10.5 it still had carpets, standard seats, A/C, stereo etc.

Why does everyone seem to be scared to wind up stock parts???

I get the feeling he is out to make a point that it can be done...good luck.

Rb26 head with RB30 bottom end i assume. I can see you possibly cracking a 9.99, but it would take some doing to get well into the 9s.

What bottom end are you using?

with that head?

And to crack a 10, you need an average of 300rwkw across your use-able rev range (what-ever that be)

So that means peak will be over 300rwkw, no way stock internals and pump fuel.

And that's in a 4wd car yes? Slicks or not?

give some reasonable detail about ALL other mods too

R31Nismoid, Totally stock RB30e bottom end (300,000km motor with rings and bearings only), totally stock RB25de head, stock cams, stock cam gears, stock valve springs, stock head gasket, NO porting, stock RB20det exhaust manifold, stock gearbox and driveshafts, stock diffs, pump gas, DOT tyres.

And you need more than an average of 300rwkw to crack at 10 in a 1450kg GTS4 I think.

stock RB30 bottom end?

I dont know one car that has run a 10 with a stock RB30 bottom end. ALL have had pistons etc.

People have tried and it just doesnt happen.

You wont need more than 300rwkw AVERAGE in a rwd skyline on slicks. That's over a 3500-4000 odd RPM range.

And stock diff's/g'box ?

You don't need forged pistons or rods. The car we're talking about runs a stock gearbox etc and weighs more than a rwd GTSt and we don't use slicks . I think our new car thats lighter should run low 9's with stock internals on street tyres, is that sooooooooo hard to believe?? What do you think might fail?

When you do, post a vid RIPS with a 9sec pass with what you have.. oz will be impressed..

the quickest GTR's here that are doing 10's have had a LOT of money thrown at them..

Why do you need to spend alot of money to do a 10?

The long motor used costs around $4500 all up outright and thats a 4wd engine which costs more than a 2wd.

What have these guys with GTR's doing 10's find they are breaking?

Well dont RIPS, and keep it up. Get that 9!

IMHO, the two main things that cause problems is detonation and revs.

Keep detonation under control with a good tune and adequate fuel, keep the revs close to manufacturers specs and all is good:)

Just my 0.02c

Out of interest exactly what type of piston are you using & what (if anything) has been done to them to cope with the power level you have to run 10's?
