I've got tickets to Japan next March 23rd 2010 - for a little over a week. Can't wait. Never been before, but have wanted to go for ages.

I am planning to go to Himije Castle, Hiroshima (maybe Miajima Island or Kinto Bridge), Kyoto, a bit of Osaka, maybe Kanazawa (samurai house, market and geisha streets), Asakusa (market), Akihabara (for electronics) and maybe Kashiwa.

I wont to know if there happens to be any big car events on the calandar at this time that I can check out?

Also, workshops or ANY other must see vehicular spots in the areas I am visiting?

Please can anyone help? I am trying to lock in an itinerary now.

Cheers.

Visit as many breweries as you can:

Asahi have a few breweries around - http://www.asahibeer.co.jp/english/companye/brewery.html

Kirin have one near Yokohama

They usually are 60mins long which includes a 20min session where you get to taste 2-3 schooners of beer for free.

I heard that Himije Castle is under construction and wont be finished till 2012 or something, some parts of the castle is under white canvas tarps so you wont see everything.

Miyajima island is pretty cool with all the deers and stuff. It's one station from Hiroshima and then cross the Ferry (Free if you have the JR Pass)

Dont forget the peace museum and atomic bomb dome, also the okonomiyaki-mura place where they have very nice okonomiyaki.

okonomiyaki-mura in Hiroshima:

Miyajima Floating Tori: (When the tide was low you can walk to it)
