Hi All,

The Whirlpool forums are the best source for comparing but I see no mention of Exetel.....$65 bucks for 25Gb peak + 60Gb offpeak + normal phone included. Static ip for serving too!

There are cheaper plans out there but I have been looking at all the deals to see what I will do next. I'm on Internode now and been faily happy.......but times are a changing!

Hope this helps!

The problem with Extel is that they are very p2p unfriendly, they will shape p2p traffic & I think they are also considering banning p2p traffic during peak time (read something about it on the Whirlpool news section a while back, not sure if its implemented though).

Also they have the 3 strike rule, in that if you get sent 3 letters for copyright infringement in a certain period of time, then they will ban your account.

I'm currently with TPG, & they don't seem to care about infringement notices, they will forward the notice to you & give you a standard warning email but other than that, nothing. I must have gotten >10 notices already...

Just to confirm with everyone........not a flaming war.........is this fact or "hearsay" about p2p! This really makes it hard when other people (and myself) are deciding to change to another Internet provider and the "facts" are a bit grey. If you find the link, please post it.

I dont work for any IP company so im not bias towards anyone. But thanks for ya input, It all helps

P2P shaping is a FACT.

They were planning to ban P2P during peak time, but I'm not sure whether they have implemented it or not.(LINK

3 strike rule is similar to Optus' one. Its under its fair use policy somewhere.

Hope this helps.

EDIT:

IMO if you are a heavy p2p user, better of to change to one of the isp's that don't take the infringement notices too seriously, (like TPG) I usually get like 1 notice every 1 or 2 month & TPG doesn't seem to do much other than forward the notice to you.

im with TPG, and suffer from "i cant get ADSL2" syndrome. 36 gig (18 on/18off) for $59, no issues here. and i do alot of torrenting as im in an area where hireing or buying movies/music etc just isnt an option.

i've never had a copyright infringment notice, how exactly does this come about??

i've never had a copyright infringment notice, how exactly does this come about??

Basically it goes something like this:

Movie/Music industry (in US) found your IP sharing their movie/music on torrent,

They trace back the IP to the appropriate ISP & sent a email of infringement on copyright bla bla bla...

ISP (TPG in this case) forward the email to you & pretty much just goes "we've done our job." & won't take any further actions.

Some ISP's take this very seriously & will terminate your account if you accumulate a certain # of these notices in a given time period. TPG isn't one of them (from my experience anyway :P)

But honestly, most ISP's with massive download quotas usually turn a blind eye to these kind of things unless if pressured by the copyright holder. Deep down they all know what these quotas are gonna be used as, unless you love to download all the different open-source Linux ISOs over & over again.

Exetel is easily the best value for money, I've looked through just about every adsl1 plan (can't get adsl2 where I am) and yeah... $45 gets you speed: 1500kb/s peak 12pm-12am 12gb, off-peak 12am-12pm UNLIMITED downloads and they don't count uploads as downloads as some sh1tty isp's do. There adsl2 plans are even better but living in sticks that's not an option for me. Haven't had an issue with them good customer service generally, no thick accents yet, perfect isp for bittorrenting.

An insider tells me that next week iPrimus are releasing a 100GB plan for $50

I will be using it... tech support if you actually need it is much better then TPG... their backbone is 10x greater thanks to their equipment over TPGs and with them renting the Google pipe to america ping times are generally better all round.

Heard about that too. Not very surprisingly its going to be called the "Big Kahuna" as with all their high usage plans.

IMO their tech support is sh**. I've been on the phone with them for hours on end when I first was trying to connect it. Although I have been with them for a fair while now, still not the best, but pretty good value for money, especially when the new plan comes out.

^

TPG's tech support aren't great neither, but thank fully I can fix most of the common problems. Otherwise its their sever maintance that fixes itself up after a couple of hours.

I used to be on their level 2 tech support (primus adsl and dialup) about 6 years ago... it was far worse back then, then it is now. The queues were massive.

I dont really use tech support much, not for setups, just to check connection issues from the other end, but ive used Optus, Telstra, iPrimus, TPG and DoDo and iPrimus has always been slightly better then the rest.

Looking forward to finally getting on a decent plan... 21GB on optus was never enough.

    • UPDATE: Hi all!  As we are getting towards the end of this thread where I’ll showcase final dyno numbers and graph, I wanted to provide an update. Tao from HyperGear has done an amazing job building the custom divided T3 housing for the G30. Communication was flawless, price was great, and now the housing is estimated to arrive in 7-10 days! Very very pleased. I must add, if someone is looking for an affordable turbo and end up reading this thread, I would recommend HyperGear. Genuine brands are the way to go as their proven reliability, predictable performance, and there’s a plethora of information available for specs, flow, and more. This HyperGear recommendation is based on their excellent communication, dedication, and willingness to listen to their customers. I particularly liked their ability to create custom adaptations tailored to specific needs, which is a HUGE benefit over other brands. And if we consider the HyperGear provided dyno results, it adds reassurance knowing their turbos can compete against genuine brands. Next update will be after the dyno!
    • I've previously seen people post up "dress up bolt kits" for RBs but don't remember seeing them specify the full contents. I can only really suggest you grab the verniers and start measuring, and keep in mind the cam cover and timing cover bolts are both quite specific with a wider unthreaded section where the bushes sit, that will make it hard to get aftermarket replacements which tend to be all thread (set screws) or for longer bolts a flat section with a shorter threaded section at the end
    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.

    • Hi all! Looking to relocate the battery to the trunk of an R34 GTT. I want to do it using as many stock GTR components as I can (including the harness protectors from the 34 GTR that run underneath along the chassis to the engine bay). So far I’ve purchased the battery tray from a 33 GTR, as the captive weld nuts are already there just asking to be used. There is also the slight issue of now having to relocate the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU, which in GTT’s sits right above where the battery will then sit on the tray. Has anyone already achieved this, and if you have any pics that you wouldn’t mind sharing? It would be great to see how others have done it and where you put them, as there are countless holes in the parcel shelf panel to potentially use. Just trying to get some ideas bounced around, and to help uncover any potential problems I may encounter by  my choice of location. TIA for any help!
