Dried And Hardened Tree Sap On Windscreen Removal

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just wondering if anyo knows a way to remove dried tree sap from winscreens. I have tried a few products to no avail, wd40 and even nail polish remover and the marks are still there.

Any suggestions?

I saw a number of products at Repco that says it removes this and that, not sure if I can remember seeing one specifically for Tree Sap though.

Maybe try soaking it first for a while, get an old Rag, wet it with warm water (maybe the warmer the better) and just leave it on the sap and let it soak for a while, then try scrubbing it off?

Hope you can get rid of it, good luck.

razor blade, scrape it off carefully..........

Razorblade and glass?? ooohhh that would be too touchy for me, doing the entire rear windscreen....there must be an easier way :)

Razor blade on glass is quite easy actually.

That is how carwashes remove stickers, etc from the windows.

It is not that hard, or subsequently take it to the car wash and get them to do it for you.

I hate TREE SAP! :)

Razor blades may work.

Have you ever tried using the maguires clay bar and detail spray? It has worked on tree sap but not sure if it'll work if left "too" long.

Razor blade followed by clay bar :)

Don't worry, it won't scratch your glass. Try and get those long thin razor blades that can sort of bend to the glass' shape. Once you've done that, simply follow up with clay bar to get it back to normal.

I've heard eucalyptus oil works too, but i haven't tried/seen it done.

Mentholated Spirits, coat the paper towel, hold it over the tree sap for 30-60 seconds to let the fumes loosen it up.. then scrub off with a dry paper towel.

I've done it many a time

Tried most except for the eucaliptus oil to no avail...got my side windows tinted this w/e and the guy doing them let me know that it wasn't tree sap but acid rain marks.

He recommended a clay bar and window cleaner for moisture....tried it and it kinda work, reduced some of the spots but not all of them. I guess i need to do it a few times to get a better result

For tree sap, i can tell you that hot soapy water works. I got it off my paint easily. Use almost-boiling hot water, and have the car sitting in the sun for a while before pouring it over the affected areas.

Then wipe it off with a soft cloth. You wont believe how easily it comes off. I tried metho and a host of other scary things. They didnt work.
