Hey, Looking to replace the alternator in my '96 r33.

Ive removed the existing one and uncovered part numbers on it

NISSAN: 23100-70T14

MITSU: A2T37791C

Cant locate these part numbers anywhere online.

After lots of looking i found the bosch BXN1231 which it looks like people have used before? Is this a suitable option?

Ive been quoted $361.90 New from local dealer.

CONCERN: Its only 70amp the one thats shat itself was rated at 80amp will this make a great deal of difference?

Anyone recomend any other more suitable alternatives that will bolt straight up  hopefully with no need to change electrical plugs.

THANKS:)

Get it rebuilt, should cost half that.

I personally wouldnt use an alternator that couldnt supply as much current as the original, especially if the car has been modified with bigger stereo's and/or full of old/dirty connectors & grounds etc.

What do people think a typical rebuild would cost? the reason i was looking at new was from everything i had seen online i would be up for $250-300 for a rebuild so i figured i may as well go new.

Theres nothing much to them, a rebuilt one is almost 100% brand new anyway apart from the housing and thats usually repainted also.

So its cheaper, direct fit, almost 100% brand new, and has a higher/correct output rating (less power supply issues down the track)

A non standard one is more expensive, possibly not a direct fit, 100% brand new, lower/incorrect output rating (with possible problems in future)

Weigh the benefits and make your decision. I paid approx. $130 to get an RB30 alt recond about 4-5yrs ago

    • Hi All,  just thought I would provide an update as I know smooth (Matt) was on this forum from 2003.    my brother Matthew passed away end of may 2024 at the age of 41 from liver failure. I am not sure how many of his original team krazy friends are still on here or active but thought it reasonable to let the forum know.    if you have any photos or pictures it would be great if you could share them.    it took me a while to work out he was active on here.    thanks so much

    • 😜 hopefully we get this instead of a new R36 GTR due to recent financial problems at Nissan. Nismo to sell a complete kit with RB26 and driveline. All starts making sense (ok maybe not) once the Nissan Leaf's (Leaves?) with stuffed EV motors/batteries hit the market cheap
    • Hi guys , have had allot of time for SAU and has helped me out heaps in the past so I thought I would give it a go , I have my QM1 white NUR for sale 1 of 156 examples built by Nissan. Serious personal messages please if interested and details will be provided , asking 500k
    • Oof. Could be worse I guess. I suppose they haven't put any effort into ally suspension parts or CF panels, seats, etc. So they could probably pull about half of that back out of the car. Not like a bunch of other EVs that already have CF everything and roll the scales at ~2t.
