Kurt Wilson is the fastest genuine street car.

After Jambo id say mine will be. (fingers crossed)

this is from official records...not just hearsay

http://www.hpi.com.au/drag_records.php

Mine is registered and regularly see's the highway...id say Kurts and mine would be the only 2 genuine streeters in the top 10. My car runs full glass, all interior trims, carpet, hood lining, door trims, dash etc...except rear seat and side trims.

mark and russ's R32 I'm fairly sure was still rego'd when it ran that time in the HPI chart, and still competed in road events like dutton etc, but I'm pretty sure mark and russ weren't exactly using it to get the shopping. which is my point. it's kind of hard to define what 'street driven' means. I mean most of those cars you could go and register and drive a km or 2 on the street. but I'd say none in the top 10 would be 100% street legal and defect free should an enthusiastic police or EPA officer chose to go over them thoroughly.

this is why most records are just defined by rigid class rules that are not disputable, like tyre type etc.

You should see the looks on the boys faces when i drop my daughter off at school...its gold!

Our car was built around the ANDRA street class rules for Sport Compact cars so id say considering he refered to drag racing times Mark and Russ' car does not comply. So BB there are clear cut rules...you are just not aware of them.

My car requires two simple modifications before street cruising, with these done the car is fully compliant with engineers certification and with the flick of a switch under the dash the 'guilt-toy' special EPA map is activated in the ecu.

  • 2 weeks later...

At the time was an everyday driver: My GF used to drive it.

It was 100% legal in Tassie.

10.6 @ 138mph

Raced as street car. Full weight, exhaust, pump fuel, stereo. Only reason I didn't drive it to the track is it's 280km from home.

Cheers

J.
