Having a removable gear stick would be a show stopper for car theifs, one you can just twist on and off. If it detached from the base then it would be impossible to get into gear. Sort of like Mr Bean removing the steering wheel from his mini. Also disconnecting the A/F meter or having a kill switch tapped into the wiring somewhere will stop the car from starting. I usually do this when parking in dodgy areas.

On security though...

My friend recently bought an RS Turbo Liberty (he owned it originally back in 1995 and sold it and bought it back off the same guy a few weeks ago.)

ANYWAY...

the guy he bought it back from is an electrical engineer of some sort and made his own security.

He designed a series of immobilisers that are deactivated ONLY with a sequence of events.

like a series of buttons that need to be pressed, IN ORDER, or the car doesn't start.

it's saved his car 3 times.

on the 3rd time, the theaves got annoyed and ripped the whole ignition barrel out.

so he left it out, and got one of those racing/rally type red cut off keys.

so now, my mate puts the big red key in, does his sequence of buttons, then presses a cool starter button like you see on boats.

apart from that he keeps his wheel brace and club lock in the car too.

I think he also has a heavy duty Chain which he somehow wraps around the rear diff of the car stopping it from moving forward or back.

and then the usual central locking and alarm.

Hey Nissky

Have you tried Shannons Insurance i Have a modified R31 SVD Skyline with RB25DET plus FMIC, Comp, Exhaust blah blah blah

and i am only playing $1200.00 for Full Comp I am only 27 my car is garaged at home I have a alarm of there recommendation fitted to the car and my excess is only $500.00 also i have a NCB of 65%

If you mention that your car is garaged it will help reduce costs and this is based on a everyday driver not a weekend toy

Give them a try if you like 134646

yeah i was going to say that. i like the concept of the internal piezo siren, especially a 100-120db one. a flashing light on the dashboard, even if its fake, would deter a bit.

ive also thought about the battery kill switch, not a good idea with something using ecus ect. its something ive thought about alot, sometimes really over the top methods seem a good idea.

anyone seen the show on comedy channel SWAG?

yep.. from the street, the driveway is blocked by trees, then up the driveway and behind a wall.

no way you could see it unless you walked up the driveway to the front of our building.

hey GTST did you ever think if no one could see it and no-one knew where it was ...

that it could have been someone you know!!!

:fart:

MsG_ChRiS - I don't associate myself with those types of animals.

I won't clutter this one with my problems..
