I knew you couldnt sit idly by. I should have put all my money on it :mrt:

anyways. does this look about right for 4mm preload? ignore the precision measuring tape. the angle is all out of whack in the photo.

but if you could get an actuator for say 18 psi, then wouldn't it be pointless to have an MBC (I had one and got rid of it due to continually having to burn hands in order to change boost settings)

It seemed that with an EBC even at the actuator setting of 8 PSI my car was boosting a lot stronger and faster (esp in second and 5th)

If you adjust the actuator (shortening it) too much, it wont open enough when it lets the gas out.

This will decrease the hole size, and act like an oxy cutter, f**king out your wastegate flap and hole in extreme cases.

Also expect higher exhaust gas temps.

the theory is that without a boost controller the wastegate may creep open a little bit before you get to your desired boost, taking the edge off the performance. when a boost controller is added to the equation, as the boost is rising, any creeping is going to be done by the controller and not the wastegate.

in the case of an EBC, generally they just vent air before it gets to the actuator and once it gets to the desired boost it allows air to get to the actuator and open the wastegate. this is how some of them have the ability to spike above the set boost and then drop down to the set boost to give slightly better acceleration
