Any good quality silicon sealant should be good enough. Ordinarily with water seals you should use something which never sets, but since the parts need to be held together by this stuff you will need something which hardens enough to hold it together (but still stays soft enough to pull apart again)

In my experience silicon seems to promote rust, i would use windscreen skin forming caulking compound, its black and gooey! Make sure to clean off hands before touching genitals! :)

Theres a product called "Sikaflex". Its a range of sealants you can buy from hardware and automotive stores. There are a few varients of Sikaflex, but they have an automotive removable sealant specifically for this kind of thing. It worked a treat for me. Good luck.
