I had an MT8 running my old RB20, the "X" only allows yo uto run external ignition drivers, so a Nissan RB either will be ok.

Did you buy it new or 2nd hand, if new ten they should have configured it to run the RB, if 2nd hand then it may need to go back to Microtech so they can configure it to run your engine.

I bought the car about 5 weeks after the ECU had bene installed.

I did have probs with it at first, but being fair i dont feel i could blame the ECU.

Car still ran and with foot to the floor it went well, but at light loads or low rpm it wasnt the best, fuel economy was woeful, weeks after a tune it would begin to run pig rich or ping?

I question the age of the sensors on my engine, or their compatability to the Microtech for the tendency to start to run poorly from time to time, some blame the ECU but im not so quick to appoint blame.

So after over 2 thousnad dollars tuning it, it had much better throttle response, better fuel economy, but still stalled with aircon on, or at low rpm when i turned the steering wheel, (Basically the only two things i can blame on the ECU as it didnt have the outputs to control them) Both probs could still be easilty driven around.

The only thing i would really bring to your attention, is that be sure that your electrical system is up to scratch, as i found the MT8 to be very sensitive to voltage fluctuations, and that it is installed correctly/neatly.

The shop that installed the MT8 for my cars previous owner decided not to install and wire up the air temp compensation. This was a high profile Sydney workshop, who didnt see it as being necessary.

I think for the money they are a great ECU, and if all you are concerned about is performance then you will be happy. If your looking for more accurate control of th engine, say like expecting std light load/throttle driveability, i think you will find yourslef spending a lot of money like i did trying to get the thing driving nicely.

    • 2 things. 1. If you're going to buy a ball joint puller/pusher tool that is not advertised as being for the purpose you intend to use it for, then it is up to you to make sure, either before you buy, or after you first try (and possibly fail) that it will work for that task. 2. WTF? Putting HICAS balljoints back into a car implies retaining HICAS, which is just....dumb. HICAS can lick my left one.
    • After cleaning the contacts in the remote, if it has rubber carbon pads on the buttons, give them a little wipe with a 2B pencil to add some fresh carbon back. Just a little wipe. Not too much.
    • The one door lock not working intermittently sounds odd. But for the other issues I'd suggest to clean the contacts and everything on the little board inside the fob. I had the same issue with unlock working but not lock, and that solved it. It brings such a quality of life change to be able to lock and unlock the car like a normal person  
    • Ok, can confirm.  if you use it like a normal human being in the real world, it works fine.  it only starts crossing wires if I keep using the fob over and over again in a very short period. So if I just chill the f**k out, it works 😂😂
