Some of the (older) skyline guys have got together and have asked SAU NSW to look into being able to issue Historic Rego.

The rules are basically:

Car 30 years or older

Unmodified (or only "period" options and accessories)

Owner must be SAU NSW member

Club safety officer has confirmed it is roadworthy (annual check)

Can be driven to: Club events, events with other clubs, attending community events, driving to mechanic

Must be noted in the club register before it is driven

I'm not clear on the annual rego fee, but the notes say "Historic vehicles registered under this scheme are exempt from the payment of stamp duly, motor vehicle tax and national charges." If rally rego is a guide it is under $100pa including insurance

We need 5 people seriously interested to make this happen......please post up if you have something that fits the criteria and you are genuinely interested.

*edit* for race style cars under 30 yo there is another scheme called rally rego. I am chasing up the current rules with CAMS and will post up in the next few days

period mods would be say...

If an LH Torana had a drop tank, you can put a drop tank on your LH if it didnt have one.

dragway wheels/12 slotter wheels would be classed as a period mod.

If you had a 302 powered XW/XY from factory, you would not be able to put a 351 in there and put it on club rego. (some people do though, cheeky buggers...)

best thing about the 302 and 351 is. all u gotta do is pull out the engine and change the crank, rods and pistons to 351 items and put your 302 block back in..... same block. engine numbers will match and all.... just a 351.

We did this to my old mans XC ute. after a while he woke up sold that and brought a XA GT haha, not muc'n round....

As long as its an originakl "k" code motor, its all good :D

With Historic rego too guys, its DIRT cheap for comprehensive insurance with a specialty insurer, if I ever had a classic, it would go onto this rego.
