I'm embarking on a direct port approach to my nitrous injection. I have run 50 and 100hp sucessfully through a single fogger. However to ensure even distrobution at higher nitrous flow rates I need to go to a individual tb/direct port- 6 fogger injection set up.

I have a good Idea on the way I would like to go, however I havn't seen too many individual set ups on a 26 before.

It would be super helpfull if I had some photo's of other peoples set ups to compare too. Or any advice from those who have completed an install similar.

Please note: This is a street car 70% of it's life and I'm trying to not install 90 degree fogger straight into the runners.

Cheers

Justin

This is my current set up:

post-22624-1250525009_thumb.jpg

we did one with the greddy inlet manifold and used the secondary injector holes as the fogger bosses and it worked great. Ive always wanted to use the nos injector nozzles but never had the chance. Most of our nos installs are on 2JZGE, VG30DE and RB25DE's ...

Thats probably where I'm going to end up. Straight shot foggers, threaded into the second injector boss in an after market intake plenum.

Was there any serious clearance issues with the plumbing around the fuel rail?

I have seen pics of a nice looking direct port GTR set-up in here somewhere. I had a feeling it was actually in the for sale section but I did a search and couldn't find it in there. it must have been somewhere here in FI section.

ill guess it was BU5TER's.

Hypertune milled me up some new runners with 1/8 NPT tapped bosses underneath to run direct port. Ive never used even my single fogger set-up yet...suffice to say ive never fitted them.

The spare injector placments on a Greddy plenum look to be the go. BU5TER'S set up is quite neat, however it looks like they are 90 deg foggers that sit in the runner.... I guess it's a ballance, good even flow and dispersion of fuel and nitrous v's a small flow restriction in the runner.

Obviously the gain using nitrous far out weighs the small airflow restriction the fogger nozzle causes, but what if the nitrous is not used... how much restriction will the nozzle tip create?

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

Justin

oh oh can i say it?

lol doing it anyway.....

Not a bad way to spend ten grand! lol ahhh gets me everytime hahahaha.

... I'd better run out and get a Motec System Exhaust too!

We took all the 6 port kit off because people thought it was the only reason we went any good, lol.

Truth is, we never did try it and we did go quicker once it was all removed, wether it had anything to do with the removal of the foggers or just the other changes we made after then, who knows.

I was under the impression you used nitrous to help efficiency of the motor at the drag strip, bringing on boost quicker and cooling the intake charge as when your stationary; there is less air moving through the radiator/intercooler etc.

sounds very accurate to me, id have no issue running a 50hp shot if i ever got into drag racing

Nitrous is for fags who can't make real horsepower. (s/s)

lolz, nitrous has other uses too. Ever seen shooter with mark wahlberg.....

if anyones curious, be careful it causes acute dementia.

Basically I want to optimise the current set up in the car. I would like to keep the T517Z's for the response/power delivery on the street (I live in Tassie... there are LOTS of great driving roads). But come race day fitt the bottle, make some more hp and torque.

I like to race my street car. Nitrous allows me to race more consistant from day to night, by controlling/equalising intake temperatures etc. It also gives me more immediate torque to get out of the hole a little easier with a full weight car, without bouncing the thing off the limmiter at the line.

For the power gains, nitrous is cheaper and gives better results than race fuel.

There are other options for more power, but they all cost ALOT more for smaller results.

If this makes me a homo (Dirt G) then IM PROUD!!!! ha ha ha.

G'day Justin, good to see you took the comment the right way. Hows your piston pins on strip-down? Have you bent any? This is why im reluctant to join the community of pride.

I'm not bent yet/ummm they're not bent...

I'm going to stay with stock comp ratio and probably lower the boost a few psi when I use a largish hit of gass (to keep cylinder pressures under controll), obviously pull some timing out (depending on tume ofcourse) to keep it fron knocking on the initial hit. Also I'm going to keep the line length from solinoid to the fogger manifold longer than required to slow the hit (obviously have the fuel line a little shorter than the gass line).

Then see how I go...

I am a little nitrous proud... hell even my go-ped has 5hp and a 2hp shot of gass!!!

Nothing wrong with a bit of gas. Good cheap power without having to upgrade to bigger turbos, which in turn increase lag. For a street car that wants to have a bit of fun on the side nitrous is a great way to go. I still want to hopefully get there one day.

    • Bit of an update to this one. Having some issues on the dyno that held us back (boost spiking) and I want to pass some info over you guys and see what you think is wrong with my setup. The current readout on this dyno is 462rwkw on a low reading dyno so keep in mind it is a real world 500rwkw setup on a hub dyno. Don't read into the power figure too much as a sign of the issue. The short and curly of it is: 2.8 Litre Racepace build RB25 NEO N/A Head with VCT (internally standard however ) Borgwarner EFR 8474  Turbosmart 50mm Straight Gate + Mac valve 6Boost Manifold 4" dump to full 4" exhaust (nil restrictions) Wastegate plumbed back in and all angles in the exhaust system are acceptable and not too sharp. GFB SV52 BOV in cooler piping  Turbosmart BOV in EFR Housing   The issue we are having is it comes onto full boost for example at 4000rpm and spikes to 24/25psi, before dropping down to 17psi before slowly rising back up to the target boost of 23psi. It was extremely uncontrollable and the tuner actually had to ramp in boost progrssively with each 1000rpm on each boost setting we selected to try and reduce the amount of spiking. Sometimes we would see a drop of 10psi from the peak at the beginning of the run, to the low, until it took the next 500-1000rpm to stabilise back up to the target boost. The tuner is pretty confident that the straight gate is just a poorly designed product and leaks too much boost upon cracking the gate open and theres no way to fix it other than going to a poppet valve. He's also confient theres no ignition breakdown or floating valves. The fueling is extremely stable as well. Turbo speed is somewhere around the 109,000rpm area. The spanner in the works for me is that prior to this Borgwarner and StraightGate, the car was tuned on -5 twins at a diferent tuner, and he also had issues controlling the boost with it spiking around the same rpm range, so to me this sounds like the same issue and it can't be anything on the turbo side as this was all changed and I think the behaviour is extremely similar, if not the same. We also removed the mac valve and did a run on wastegate pressure and it still spiked and had the same behaviour. My thoughts on possibilities are: Boost Leak VCT Cam Gear isn't reliably activating consistently - (On this however, we did a run with the VCT disabled and the boost still spiked) Turbosmart BOV is not handling the boost? However this seems unlikely to not be able to handle 20psi. I have a couple of logs that I can't make sense of if anybody knows how to read them and can obtain further logs of other parameters if they are not enough, happy to pay for anyones time. The dyno readout with the power figure is the most recent last week. The other picture is from two weeks prior to that where we couldn't break 400kw (we removed the cat), however the issue of the boost control persisted. @Lithium @Piggaz @burn4005 @GTSBoy @discopotato03 I've tagged those that were quite active in recent pages here, no disrespect to those that know turbos well but I missed tagging. • I recently purchased a 2018 Infiniti Q60, which has an SD card navigation map. I can see my system has options for real time traffic updates etc, and am wondering if there is something I can purchase to get this working? I can see there are at least updated maps for USA and Canada, but nothing for Australia. Surely Infiniti took changing road systems and city expansions into account when they decided to use an inbuilt navigation over Android Auto/Apple Car Play, or are we doomed to drive on streets that don't exist in the navigation system if you drive to a new area?
    • Luckily I didn't put in etch primer as I just found out it's not compatible with my body filler lol. Also just need to sand the panel anywhere between 150-400 grit so I'm in the clear there. It does say to not apply to soft old paint, I assume that means paint that is flaking, peeling, etc
    • @dbm7 and @GTSBoy thank you both very much! will give that a shot!
