I'm not totaly happy with my oil presure so I'm thinking an upgrade to the oil pump may be the go and after a bit of searching I have come across NITTO,and N1 and I'm thinking there may be more.

The NITTO was around $1200/1300 and the Skyline GTR NI $580 appart from the $ how big is the difference between these two.

Will the GTR N1 fit the 98 R34 GT-T and will there be a significant improvement over the OE GTT one in there now ?

I'm not modding this car, I only push it around a little bit occasionaly, I'm not $1300 bucks worth unhappy with the current pressure and it wont see the track while I've got it.

Having said all that summer is coming so soon would be the time to do this if I'm going to so any advice on this would be gratefully received.

Oh and while I think about it how hard / many hours in fitting to a 98 R34 GT-t.

I don't know how R34's work, but incorrect oil pressures (32's, 33's) are the result of a dirty pressure switch, I would first clean the switch (near the oil filter). As for fitting a new pump, its a engine out job. Others have reported the Nitto pumps are as good, if not better than the $2000 jap pumps.

If it's not going to the track, or be bouncing off the limiter, there are better ways to spend your money than getting track orientated pumps for a lazy daily driver.

Read this thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/N1...il-t283867.html

I definately wouldn't worry about the oil pump. To replace it you will need to take motor out and pull it apart (it is possible on car but still heaps of labour, balancer off, timing belt off, drop subframe, sump off).

You can get a second hand rb25 for less than the cost of an oil pump....

:P Thanks guys didn't realise how much info was in the Epic fail thread thanks for that , oil pressure sender cleaning will be done.

Just a bit more I came across this:-

NISMO OIL FILTER

FEATURES:

  • 21% LESS PRESSURE LOSS
  • 24% INCREASE IN FILTRATION
  • 10% LESS FLOW RESISTANCE
  • 37% INCREASED LIFE

PRICE: $49.95 EACH

And just wondered if there's any mileage with these claims or is it just manufacturers rhetoric ? reason I asked I noticed an overall slight drop when I changed the oil and filter last time the filter that was in was a Jap no name which I think may have come in with the car.

I'm using 10x40 Nulon quick flow full syn and a Nissan OE filter.

All I can say is FARK THAT! I could be wrong, but with the 'shithouse' Ryco filters, I have no strange variations or delays in oil pressure (that said im going to start using Nissan ones for peace of mind)

IMO if you're going to spend $50 on the filter, add that amount to what you spend on oil and use Motul 300v or something.

I think it's all a load of crap, when theyre $8 each, just change it when you change your oil.. May as well use a genuine Nissan filter, theyre pretty much the same price maybe cheaper than the Ryco equiv.

    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
