yep, every single guy I personally know with a 360 has had it fail once or more. a couple have had 2 failures and one guy has had 3 failures... I don't personally know a single person with a PS3 failure and me personally i've owned a jap launch PS3 (bought on the very first day, first batch of jp launch machines) and still have my aussie 60gb launch PS3 and it's still going great guns.

lol, I have bad memory! :D wasn't trying to be a smart arse. just pointing out that you'd think if any were vulnerable to failure it would be the early release models and both of mine a still going strong (the jap one with the new owner and the aus one with me). though having said that I know both the jap release and the aus release 60gb models where made in japan where as apparently later aus models where made in china? that could have an effect, but still PS3 is far more reliable. look at all the extra cooling shit you need just to get a 360 to stay alive and even then they still often die.

anyway, since we're talking about PS3s did you know I bought a jap launch PS3 in japan? it was awesome. ;)

smells like desperation to me...
better off getting an xbox 360 :P

Xbox 360 fanboy alert

Anywhos, I'm going to grab this PS3 slimline... just because I have a fat and slim version of every Playstation console so far anyway and want to complete the collection for the hell of it.

I've not seen a newer chipset Xbox 360 die yet, and FYI, I play my games on both 360 and PC, everyone I know with a PS3 has it sitting there covered in dust waiting for GT5 to come out, since most games are either look better on 360, not to mention the amount of exclusives and the superiority of Xbox Live as a multiplayer service.

The pros really outweigh the cons of the 3RROD etc, xbox 360 games are generally 1080p compatible vs all the PS3 games I've played, not to mention the ancient controller design, the fact that you have to download hundreds of mb of crap to just play the games!

I'd never buy a Wii, I'd get my girlfriend to lol.

Gotta love the PS3 vx Xbox360 fights

Well i'm one of those guys that hasn't got a PS3 but want to buy one - couldn't justify the price...now with the price drop it seems tempting (just need to a LCD TV to really do it justice)

For all these people say that games look better on Xbox 360 and vice versa..is generally wrong. The look almost exactly the same on both consoles just with some suttle differences. From what I remember, Fallout 3 on X360 looked nicer but it ran smoother on PS3 (graphics still looked very good)

Xbox Live is a very good multiplayer serivce but most people can't justify the price to use the service (80 bucks for 12 months is a bit steep)...whilst the PS3 multiplayer service is free and can plays just a good as Xbox Live. PC still beats them all though

As I have said to my friends before both machines have their advantages and disadvantages...I rather sit on the fence and get both.

The Wii on the otherhand - with it's "dated" graphics and revoloutionary control system - has flipped the bird at both Sony and MS. Nintendo are rolling in the money

lol, I have bad memory! wasn't trying to be a smart arse. just pointing out that you'd think if any were vulnerable to failure it would be the early release models and both of mine a still going strong (the jap one with the new owner and the aus one with me). though having said that I know both the jap release and the aus release 60gb models where made in japan where as apparently later aus models where made in china? that could have an effect, but still PS3 is far more reliable. look at all the extra cooling shit you need just to get a 360 to stay alive and even then they still often die.

hey i to have the original jap release 60gb.... although my motherboard fried last week.. put it in to get repaired with a private company as its out of warranty.. it seems ps are very protective of those 60gb motherboards are are not giving any out... so its back to ps to get fixed.. they charge $315 to fix any faults wich dont seem to be to bad still cheaper then buying a new one... anyway on the ps vs xbox. when i was at the repair shop they had 3 maybe 4 playstations on there repair shelf and about 20 xboxs.... :/

Wow they kept that under wraps long enough, saw it advertised in the shops the other day for the first time, $499 is a good price, ovbviously Sony listened to activision, even games ive noticed are already cheaper.

lol at 360 fan boys, always have to pay out how little thier friends use thier PS3's......as if xbox players would alow themselves to have playstation friends.

PS3 all the way for me as i love the controller, everyone I know has their Xbox in the spare room, and the PS3 in the lounge cause it can play Blue rays straight out of the box :D

BigDirtyJase has hit it on the head. personal prefference ftw :D

i had always been an xbox guy, got my original xbox chipped wth 250GB HDD to whack more stuff on it. In buying the home theatre it really was a no brainer, PS3 with the Blu ray all the way.

My original xbox has never had a problem and still ticks away playing DVD movies on my tv in the bedroom, but the PS3 does a great job of the blu rays.

What Sony did a sh*t job at though was not enabling other remotes to control DVD playing. I got a nice Logitech remote for my birthday does everything, turns on the projector, stereo, tv tuner..... but cant do the PS3 due to the remote being blu tooth i think they said (i think its 2.4ghz), there are options and an adaptor you can buy for $60 - $70 but that is the same price as a remote anyway. JB Hifi had a deal for 300 and Batman plus pS3 remote for $50 but i just want to get rid of the remote all together :-)

Really like the PS3 and the options it offers, would have been nice if they thought a bit more about remote compatability. This new PS3 doesnt look as Classy IMHO, the original was a nice gloss finish and has the stand, but the new one is a mat finish and apparently you have to purchase the stand seperately if you want to stand it upright.

big w have the new ps3 listed at $488, and dick smith have them down for $499 with some batman game. but i am still waiting for GT5, and i'm not really allowed to get one until then, LOL. but that doesn't bother me much as i don't have much interest in many games other than the GT series

Bought one the other day in a bundle for $498 from JB.

It lasted a day then the cd drive motor shit itself, couldn't get the disc out other than the forced eject function.

Took it back the next morning and got it exchanged for another one, no probs.

I'd prefer one made in Jp (the early one's). I got the extended warranty for it too when I got it replaced, extra piece of mind!!

Batman game is cool!!!!

    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
    • Wasn't there a thread on this very subject just a few weeks ago?
    • Hi all! Looking to relocate the battery to the trunk of an R34 GTT. I want to do it using as many stock GTR components as I can (including the harness protectors from the 34 GTR that run underneath along the chassis to the engine bay). So far I’ve purchased the battery tray from a 33 GTR, as the captive weld nuts are already there just asking to be used. There is also the slight issue of now having to relocate the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU, which in GTT’s sits right above where the battery will then sit on the tray. Has anyone already achieved this, and if you have any pics that you wouldn’t mind sharing? It would be great to see how others have done it and where you put them, as there are countless holes in the parcel shelf panel to potentially use. Just trying to get some ideas bounced around, and to help uncover any potential problems I may encounter by  my choice of location. TIA for any help!
    • Brand was ard.   I also threw a brand new battery at it and beefed up the wire from the alternator to battery and added an extra earthing point from the battery
