They're WD WD3200YS drives and they've been sitting in a RAID array (media box) for less than 2 years. Can be used in an array or as standalone drives. Perfect condition, no noise, fast drives.

$150 for all 5. Sydney pickup only. PM me if interested.

hey guys they didn't sell ... One issue with the drives though that I found out. Since I had them connected to this raid controller their internal firmware has switched on staggered start up or something which means these drives now only work with this particular raid controller but not with normal sata controllers. It cannot be reversed.

This is a fault acknowledged by Western Digital and I believe they have about 2 years of warranty left in them so WD would most likely replace them for new drives.

I can't be stuffed sending them in so if anyone wants them for $100 they're all yours. Otherwise I'll contact WD and get them replaced and they will be up for sale for $150 again.

Just to clear up one thing .. they DO work but only when connected to a highpoint raid controller.

I have the controller to go with them for sale if anyone wants to buy the lot for $400. The raid controller (highpoint rocketraid 2320) itself still sells for $500 in most stores. Please PM me if interested.

I've checked the WD web site earlier today, 4 of the drives have 2 year warranty and 1 has 3 years warranty left on it. So shouldn't be an issue getting them replaced if you decide to hook them up to another sata controller. I'm in camperdown (sydney)

    • I don't like the sound of that. No. I mean I actually don't like the way that they sound!
    • I'm rating the Michelin Pilot Sport 5's I currently have on my NC, they are great for throwing the thing around on the street, and handle great in the wet, the price is also reasonable  They are not as good as something like a RS4 in the dry, but, as it is a street car, the 5's are alot better for inclement and cold weather  I've found RE003's to be 5hit....
    • Just as long as it's not those putridly disappointing RE003s.
    • I had this same experience going from a set of no name tyres that were on a set of good wheels (Enkei RPFs) to some Potenza RE-11s (this was a few years ago). The wet grip in particular was so much higher that it was almost scary considering how dangerous the old tyres were in comparison. The expense of the tyres also made me want them to last longer so drove accordingly. Wife happy. So now she only 'lets' me buy some flavour of Brigestones...
    • This. All of this. I am turning >$300 into small particles inside 20k km, because I like to be able to roll around any 90° street corner at the speed limit. Would my car be more fun with cheaper tyres? Possibly. When I swapped out the bald AD09s for new ones, the change in the car was massive. The obvious one was being able to put the power down instead of lighting up into silly wheelspin. But the corollary of that was that the lateral traction went from being fun to fast. It was more fun when it was loose. But the corollary to the corollary is that if I need to dodge a child in the road or emergency brake to avoid the arsehat who has just tipped a GWM on its side in front of me, then I've got a much better chance of that manoeuvre coming off without unintended "fun" meaning that I hit something else, or the original target.
