How To Get 16v Out Of The Car?

When i get my GTS33 (ive got my eyes on one, and possibly wallet too ) - i would like to do a DIY build a popout computer into the dash. the only issue is it runs on 16V DC. Is there some way i can get 16V DC out of the car/ciggarette lighter?

When the engine is running and driving the alternator the car should float around 14.5V which should be enough.. 1.5V difference will hardly upset it

If not you'll have to get a DC/DC convertor, they're a bit exxy too, Dick Smith has some generic ones you can get pretty cheaply and cut up for your application if you're handy with a soldering iron, which I think you'd want to be if you're doing this yourself
