Well not that i could afford a new Evo anyway but this is a reason you might want to consider if you are thinking of buying one.... will they all be recalled????? This article is taken out of Sydney Morning Herald. www.smh.com.au

August 21 2002

Troubled carmaker Mitsubishi Motors Corp said on Tuesday it would spend Y20 million ($A312,000) recalling 37,000 sporty Lancer Evolution sedans in Japan and abroad to fix an exhaust problem.

Moisture in the exhaust pipe could clog up an oxygen sensor causing it to crack and malfunction.

About 32,000 Lancer Evolutions would be recalled in Japan and 5000 from overseas markets, mainly Britain, New Zealand and the Middle East.

Mitsubishi has received 14 reports of such a problem, but it has not caused any accidents.

The recall covers vehicles made between January 7, 1998 and April 3, 2002.

Mitsubishi's image was tarnished after it confessed in August 2000 to having failed to inform authorities about at least 64,000 customer complaints over faulty vehicles since 1977, opting to repair the vehicles itself instead of issuing costly model-wide recalls.

It said it had something to do with the oxugen sensors.... I honestly am not too sure but i THINK that in the 33 GTST the oxygen sensors are around near the down/dump pipes not to sure about the EVO but yeah i guess an aftermarket exhaust would solve the problem.

However saying that i thought that EVO had already upgraded there exhausts so big $$$$ wouldn't have to be spend on upgrading to an aftermarket one..... ?
